PowerPoint Presentation and Its Parts


BACKGROUND INFORMATION FOR LEARNERS
Good day learner!
In this lesson, we will discover if what is Microsoft PowerPoint 2019. Now that you already know the parts of
the MS Word Interface, edit and format texts, insert shapes clipart, images, tables, graphs, bullets, numberings and
multilevel lists, print a document, you are now ready to create your own PowerPoint Presentation.
WHAT IS POWERPOINT PRESENTATION?

PowerPoint Presentation is a presentation program created by Robert Gaskins and Dennis Austins. It is
designed to provide visuals for business presentations and now used in educational purposes like what your teachers
are using during your lectures.
It is a software application that is used to present data and information using texts, diagrams with animation,
images and transitional effects in the form of slides. It helps you to better understand the idea which is being
presented.
How to Open a Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation
First, let’s open our laptops/computers. Open PowerPoint by clicking the start button on the Windows
Taskbar and find PowerPoint.

and Double
Click it.

The PowerPoint Windows contains many elements that are similar to the Microsoft Office Word. Let us
discover the different parts of the Microsoft PowerPoint.
Parts of the PowerPoint Presentation
1. Quick Access Toolbar – contains buttons for commonly used commands.
2. Ribbon – the area containing the tabs.
3. Tabs – contain commands that are piled into related tasks called groups.
Tabs contain special tabs which are piled together at the top portion of the MS PowerPoint Presentation
2019.
 The Home Tab is where you can see the Clipboard, Slides, Font Paragraph, Drawing and Editing
Tabs.
 The Insert Tab is where in you can insert another slide, table, images, illustrations, add-ins, links,
comments, texts, symbols and media.
 In the Design Tab, you can find the different themes that you can use for your presentation, you
can also change variants here of colors, effects and background styles. You can also customize the
slide size and format the background here.
 The Transition Tab is where you can edit transitions to every slide and edit the timing of sound
and duration.
 The Animation Tab is where you can animate the texts and edit is timing.
 The Slideshow Tab is where you can monitor, set up and start slideshow.
 In the Review Tab, you can find the spelling checker or proofing, check the accessibility, insights,
translate language, and compare comments.
 You can find presentation views, master views, show ruler and gridlines, zoom the slides, change
the color and grayscale in View Tab.
4. Title Bar – indicates the software and the name of the presentation that is open.
5. Slides Tab – displays the presentation text in the form of an outline. It is use to organize and develop the content
of your presentation. This tab enables you to move slides and texts by dragging selected material. Slide tab displays
the slide of your presentation as small images. This view allows easy navigation through slides.
6. Slide Pane – contains the current slide in your presentation. You can use the vertical scroll bar to view other
slides in your presentation.
7. Notes Pane – is located below the slide pane and is use to type reference notes. The notes can be printed and can
be a reference when making the presentation.
8. View Area – is located at the right-hand bottom of the screen. It contains button that allow the ability to switch
between PowerPoint views. Here is the different view button:

The first view button allows you to view slides in normal view, the second is called the slide sorter view,
the third is called the reader view and the fourth is called the slide show view. This area also contains the zoom
feature
9. Status Bar – is located at the bottom of the PowerPoint window. It shows messages and information about the
view, such as the slide number and the current theme template used.
10. Help Tab – displays information on PowerPoint commands and features. You can activate the Help Tab by
clicking it.
