1. The document contains several geometry word problems involving calculations of lengths, areas, and perimeters of shapes such as rectangles, squares, triangles, parallelograms, and rhombi. 2. The problems are solved using properties of shapes, Pythagorean theorem, and area formulas to find unknown side lengths or areas. 3. Calculations are shown step-by-step to arrive at final numerical answers for variables like side lengths, heights, areas, and perimeters.

Suppose, breath = x
3
So, length = 2 *x
3
Area = 2 x² =384
2
Or, x² = 384* 3
Or, x² = 256
Or, x = 16
Length = (3*16)/2 = 24

Ex-10
Length of the field = x
Area of the field = x²
Width of the road = 4metre
Length of the square field excluding the road’s width =(x-4*2)
=(x-8)
Area of the square field excluding the road = (x-8)²

ATQ,
Or, X²-(x-8)² = 10,000 [As, 1 hector = 10,000metre]
Or, X²- (x²-2.x.8+8²) =10,000
Or, X²-x²+16x-64 = 10,000
Or, 16x = 10,064
So, X = 629
Area of the square field excluding the road = (629-8)²
=385,641 Sq.metre
=38.56hector (approx.)
Pond
3.
Border’ width is equal = x
Total garden’s area =1200 sq. m. 30metre

Pond’s area =1/2 of 1200 = 600sq. m.

Remaining area = 600sq. m.
Area of the border = (1200-600) = 600sq. m. 40metre

Length of the pond (without border) = (40-2x) m.

Breadth of the pond (without the border) = (30-2x) m.
Area of the pond = (40-2x)(30-2x)
=1200-60x-80x+4x²
=4x²-140x+1200

ATQ,
4x²-140x+1200 = 600
Or, 4x²-140x+600 = 0
Or, 4(x²-35x+150) = 0
Or, x²-30x-5x+150 = 0
Or, x(x-30) -5(x-30) = 0
Or, (x-30) (x-5) = 0
Or, x=30 or, x=5
But, the border’s width of the pond cannot be equal to the breadth of the
field. So, x cannot be equal to 30.
So, x=5.
Length of the pond = (40-2*5) =30m.
Breadth of the pond = (30-2*5) = 20m.
Ex-9
Suppose,
Length = x y

Breadth = y
Area of the rectangular region = xy
ATQ,
x
xy = 2,000… (1)
x-10 = y…(2)

Inputting the value of y into equation-(1),

x*(x-10) = 2,000 [ y=x-10]
or, x²-10x-2,000 = 0
or, x²-50x+40x-2000 = 0
or, x(x-50) + 40(x-50) =0
or, (x-50)(x+40) = 0
or, x=50 and x cannot be equal to -40

Length = 50
Breadth = 50-10 = 40
Area = 2,000
Area of the square = 40² = 1600 x=40; y=40

8.
Area of the parallelogram = 125*5 =625
Length of one side = √ 625 = 25
So, diagonal of the square = √ 2∗a =√ 2∗25 = 35.36(approx.)

Ex-13 A B
1
Rhombus Area = 2 *d1d2
o
D C
Suppose, d1 = 10metre
ATQ,
1
120 = 2 *d2
Or, d2 = 120/5
Or, d2 = 24

In Triangle DOC,
(DC)² = (OD)² + (OC)²
Or, = (12)² + (5)²
Or, = 144+25
Or, DC = √ 169
So, DC = 13

Perimeter = 4*13
= 52metre

10. A C

We know,
Perimeter of a rhombus = 4a o

Or, 180 = 4a
Or, a=180/4 B D

So, a = 45
Suppose,
BD = 45
1
OD = 2 *54 =27
According to the Pythagoras theorem,
(BD)² = (OD)² + (OB)²
Or, (45)²-(27)² = (OB)²
Or, OB = 36
So, AD = 36*2 =72
1
Area = 2 *54*72
=1,944
11. A C

Here,
Two parallel sides = AC and BD
AC-BD = 8cm
AF = 24cm D
B F
ABCD = 312 sq. cm.

Suppose,
AC = a and BD = b
We know that,
h(a+ b)
Area = 2
24(a+b)
Or, 312 = 2

Or, 312 = 12(a+b)

Or, (a+b) = 26…(1)
Again,
AC-BD = 8
Or, a-b = 8…(2)
Adding (1) and (2) we get,
(a+b)+(a-b)=26+8
Or, 2a = 34
So, a= 17
Inputting the value of “a” into-,(1)
(17+b) = 26
So, b = 9
Therefore, the values of two parallel sides are 17cm and 9cm respectively. (Ans.)

In Triangle ABC,
8+10+12
Semi perimeter, s = 2 =15
Area of triangle ABC = √ s (s−a)( s−b)( s−c)
=√ 15(15−8)(15−12)(15−10)
=√ 15∗7∗3∗5
ABC = 39.69
ABC = BDC
In triangle BDC,
1
Area = 2 *BC*AE
1
Or, 39.69 = 2 *12*AE
Or, AE = 6.62 [Also, DF = 6.62]
Height = 6.62
Again, In triangle DCF,
(CD)² = (DF)² + (CF)²
Or, (8)² = (6.62)² + (CF)²
Or, (CF)² = 64 – 43.82
Or, CF = √ 20.18
So, CF = 4.49

Now, BF = BC + CF
= 12 + 4.49
=16.49
In ∆ BDF,
(BD)² = (BF)² + (DF)²
Or, (BD)² = (16.49)² + (6.62)²
Or, (BD)² = 271.92 + 43.82
Or, (BD)² = 315.74
Or, (BD) = √ 315.74
So, BD = 17.77metre (approx.)

In Triangle ABC,

Semi perimeter, s = 2 = 42
Area of triangle ABC = √ s (s−a)( s−b)( s−c)
=√ 42(42−26)(42−28)(42−30)
=√ 42∗16∗14∗12
ABC = 336
ABC = BDC
In triangle BDC,
1
Area = 2 *BC*AE
1
Or, 336 = 2 *30*AE
Or, AE = 22.4 [Also, DF = 22.4]
Height = 22.4
Again, In triangle DCF,
(CD)² = (DF)² + (CF)²
Or, (26)² = (22.4)² + (CF)²
Or, (CF)² = 676 – 501.76
Or, CF = √ 174.24
So, CF = 13.2

Now, BF = BC + CF
= 30 + 13.2
=43.2
In ∆ BDF,
(BD)² = (BF)² + (DF)²
Or, (BD)² = (43.2)² + (22.4)²
Or, (BD)² = 1866.24 + 501.76
Or, (BD)² = 2368
Or, (BD) = √ 2368
So, BD = 48.66metre (approx.)
