…N1/N2 no houga adj desu. …Switzerland was the best.

The interrogative “dochira” is used when comparing


any two items. Ex. Kazoku de dare ga ichiban se ga takai desuka.
…otouko ga ichiban se ga takai desu.
Ex. Sakka to yakyuu to dochira ga omoshiroi desuka.
…sakka no houga omoshiroi desu.
Who is the tallest in your family?
…My younger brother is the tallest.
Ex. Miraa san to santosu to dochira ga tenisu ga
jouzu desuka.
Who’s better at tennis, Mr. Miller or Mr. Santos? *”Se” means height

Ex. Hokkaidou to OOsaka to dochira ga suzushii *”Takai” means high


desuka.
Which is cooler, Hokkaido or Osaka? Ex. Ichinen de itsu ga ichiban samui desuka.
What’s the coldest time of the year?
Ex. Haru to aki to dochira ga suki desuka.
Which do you prefer, spring or autumn? …2 gatsu ga ichiban samui desu.

[NOTE] The particle “ga”is attached to the II. Example:
interrogative even in an interrogative sentence Given: Mr. Jan (healthy) (yes)
asking about the subject of an adjective sentence. Answer: Jan san wa genki deshitaka.

6. Adj no (“no” substituting for a noun)

In the previous lesson in your Foreign Language 1
course explained the use of “no” in the form of “N1 2. Exam (easy) (no)
no” to substitute for a noun mentioned previously.

The “no” in the phrase “ookii no” presented in the
present lesson’s example sentences substitutes for 4. Concert (good) (no, not so)
a noun in a similar way, in the form “adj no”.
