Introduction
Imagine you work as a Data Analyst for a company/NGO/Government organization that
invested and running business/activity in country “ABC” in the industry “123”, sub-industry
“WZY” (e.g. ABC=Austria, industry “123”=E-commerce, sub-industry “WZY”=food delivery
service). Your job is to create a dashboard from scratch to give a well-rounded view of the
business. Bear in mind that this dashboards is regularly viewed by management (including
CEO/Chairman) of your organization as well as delivered to existing and potential investors
of your organization. You need to build a dashboard that will give an overview of:
1. General country / region level trends, i.e. macroeconomic developments

 Socio-economic data, i.e. average customer age, Average consumer basket,
etc.
 Competitor monitoring, i.e. # of major competitors, Market share, yearly
revenue, Growth rate, etc.
…..

You are free to use any reliable data source of your choice and below you can find a list of

Task

This coursework is an individual work consisting of 3 major elements:

1. Introduction: give a description of the selected industry and metric descriptions together
with major metrics values (e.g. Total Market of “food delivery service” grew 15% year
over year). Provide the sources of your datasets together with the copies of them (10%)

- up to 700 words
2. Dashboard: You are supposed to build an understandable, clean and easy-to-navigate
dashboard in MS Excel. All Graphs should be well constructed, sheets in the right order
and calculations should be error free (60%)
3. Summary: Please provide a summary of all KPIs over a specific period (e.g. 1 year)
which requires management attention based on your dashboard. Additionally bring
management attention to the most important trends in the industry / country. Based on
your analysis, give recommendations to the management on further steps / warn of the
upcoming changes in trend (e.g. increasing inflation rate) / point at potential profit
opportunities /…. (30%) - up to 1000 words

Data source:
Your task is to find a dataset (not necessarily from the websites provided above) related to a
subject of your own choice that is appropriate for the data analysis. The dataset (or a part of
it) should be a publicly available source of transactional/statistical data. During the course of
this project, you should analyze the input data, construct charts, dashboards using MS
Excel, identify interesting trends in the available data, and produce a report.

Attention: To prevent any two students working on the same dataset you should post (!)
the selected country, industry and sub-industry in the given link
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OaPC05vbVYcNglYfJJ1gB16PgFNV4gh6T0ORsgAmoqY/ed
it#gid=810347784 . If the dataset of your choice is selected by another student (and the
corresponding post about it already exists in Intranet) you are not allowed to work on the
same dataset. If more than one student submit a report over the same dataset, the first
student who selected the dataset will receive full marks, others will be reported to the
Academic Misconduct Panel. Finding a right dataset is the most difficult part of this
assignment, thus I suggest you do it as soon as possible.

You have to submit your coursework in two places – online on the Intranet and to the
registrar’s office. Check that the CW has a standard cover page, table of contents, page
