MDF TOOL01: The Life I Want to Live as an Adult

Narrative:

The Career Guidance Week is a yearly event conducted by Grade 10 faculty

for the benefit of its students who will be choosing their senior high school strands
soon. Some of its objectives include:

a) helping students acquire information on discovering one’s strengths and

developing awareness, the qualification standards for some types of
career jobs, making informed decisions on career choice;

b.) developing awareness and appreciation of the available jobs/choices in the

labor market, their needs, interests, aptitudes and inclinations, Technical
and vocational courses are not only for men but also for women; and

c.) experiencing careers they are aiming at, matching their interest with the
possible career in a given array of choices, identifying a career fitted to
one’s interest.

Despite the pandemic, the Grade 10 faculty of Kapitan Eddie T. Reyes

Integrated school are determined to bring this crucial service to its students. This led
to the first ever virtual Career Guidance Week 2020-2021. The week before,
students, parents and other stakeholders are invited to the online event. A massive
audience on different platforms such as Facebook and Zoom are expected.

 The day started very early for the participants as they are admitted to the
zoom meeting. However, due to an unexpected turn of events, the original plan of
livestreaming the event on Facebook did not materialize. The faculty quickly did
adjustments and the event went on smoothly.

The Master of Ceremony for the day is Ms. Aprilyn A. Celestial, who
welcomed all participants on behalf of the Grade 10 teachers of Kapitan Eddie T.
Reyes Integrated School and all the people behind the programme.

This was followed by a quick reminder on a few house rules. Afterwards,

everyone was called on to invoke the Almighty for a prayer, then came the singing of
the National Anthem, Tapat Hymn and KERIS Hymn.

After the preliminaries were the words of welcome from our school head, the
hardworking school Principal III, Dr. Gina R. Poblete. She asked everyone to
continue striving for their goals, while always keeping in mind the safety of everyone.

Of course, every program like is guided by a purpose. To state the purpose

of the program was the tireless ESP Coordinator, Ms. Nympha B. Decorina.

This was followed by some enriching & motivating words by our Educational
Program Supervisor for Araling Panlipunan and ESP Focal Person, Sir Ferdinand
Paggao. He emphasized the importance of communication between teachers and
parents in order to help students achieve their dreams.

After his inspirational words came what seemed to be one of the most awaited
part of many of Grade 10 students, the presentation of Future Career Costumes.
This was led by Ms. Lalaine Diane E. Veron, English teacher for Grade 10. Students
who were unable to submit their pictures for the video were encouraged to post their
costumes on the comment section. This activity seemed to show that a great number
of students already have an idea of what their future career might be.

Indeed, it is high time that they are introduced to what senior high school is all
about and how it will help them achieve their desired careers. With this, one of our
Grade 10 Mathematics Teacher and adviser, Ms. Ralyn Poyaoan-Alim was asked to
orient the students on the different tracks or strands.

After the comprehensive presentation was the Open Forum. Several students
asked questions especially about their chosen strand. These questions were
promptly answered by the teachers and facilitators.

Before closing the program, several reminders were given to the students
especially in accomplishing their workbook.

NARRATIVE:

As an educational institution, Kapitan Eddie T. Reyes Integrated School

conducted the Online Orientation on Career Guidance Week for Grade 10 and ALS
students to expose them to a variety of career and jobs. Provide a realistic picture of
workplace. Help students to understand how their current educational and personal
choices will affect their future life roles, in particular their choices for a career.

Before the program begins, it was graced by prayer followed by the singing of
National Anthem through an Audio-Visual Presentation. Then the Mc, Ma’am Reonal
did a roll call of attendees per section. This is to make sure that everyone is on the
call. Before the discussion Ma’am Clarabel gave a short recapitulation of Day 2
program.

 During the session, our first facilitator Ma’am Yaneza, discussed about MCDP
TOOLKIT ACTIVITY NO.3 “GOAL SETTING AND GROUNDING” she asked some
questions for students and parents, students are very active in answering the
questions on the chat box, comment section on fb live and some are verbal not only
the students are actively participated in the program but also their supportive
parents. Our second facilitator Ma’am Nympha discussed, MCDP TOOLKIT
ACTIVITY NO.4 “CONNECTING THE DOTS BETWEEN EDUCATION AND
CAREER PATHWAYS” this topic includes four toolkit, the Career Pathways Portfolio,
Career study Planner, Summary of My Career Pathways and the Multiple Career
Development Pathways map.
After the interactive discussion, students are given an opportunity to raise
questions or clarification.

Narrative:

The fifth day of the Career Guidance Week is the culmintation of the week-
long program.

The Master of Ceremony for the day is Ms. Maricris B. Popanes. She opened
the program with a prayer, then the singing of the national anthem and the school
hymn.

This was followed by the recapitulation of the learnings shared during the past
four days, led by Mr. Jerone Atienza, ICT teacher. Mr. Atienza gave a very
comprehensive summary of the different topics discussed by each facilitator.

This is followed by the presentation of outputs from different Grade 10

sections. Each student who bravely shared the fruit of their week-long participation
are applauded eagerly by the virtual audience.

Last came the presentation of awards and certificates to the participants,

facilitators, and the technical working group. To officially close the Career Guidance
Week, Ms. Nympha B. Decorina gave her words of gratitude.
