Engine Safety Unit (ESU)

Description
The ESU is an engine safety-
monitoring and emergency shut down
unit.

Main input groups are:

• Engine sensor monitoring
• RPM monitoring
• Manual emergency stop

All parameters and line definitions

preset to engine supplier’s
specifications.

The ESU module uses several Features

digital inputs and outputs. It has two • Four channels Relay output, • Dual redundant 24 VDC power
independent power-supply inputs changeover contacts input
with a built inn automatic changeover • Nine channel digital input (shut • Solenoid driver with line check
function between inputs. down) with line check • Alarm and monitoring for all
• Six channel digital input with line channels
Digital input channels 14 to 19 have check • Time stamp of alarms and events
a direct connection to output channels • Three channel digital input with (0.001 seconds)
5 to 13. If the modules CPU should line check (broken only) • Self-checking
fail, the digital input channels 20 to 22 • Six channel digital input with line • Power overload detection
connect directly to the output channels check • CAN-bus status detection and error
5 to 13. handling

The module is equipped with a

dual CAN-bus interface as its main
communications line.

Power, watchdog and CAN-bus status

can be monitored directly through a
built inn light emitting diode (LED).
• Multiple built-in redundancy
• Extensive internal self-check
features on most lines
