Windload and Torque Calculation

The document contains calculations for the torque and wind load requirements of an antenna mast system placed at heights of 10m and 12m and subjected to wind speeds of 60kph and 80kph. It is determined that at a wind speed of 80kph and the antenna placed at 10m, the design torque requirement is 81.48Nm. At a wind speed of 60kph and height of 10m, the design torque requirement is 45.78Nm. Worm gear calculations then determine that the motor requirements are an output torque of over 3.2Nm at 600rpm for the 80kph wind speed, and over 1.8Nm at 600rpm for the 60kph wind speed.

Torque calculation for Azimuth

For operational wind load Assuming that the Unit is place at a height of 10m

Wind Load FW= 194 N

Considering the center of gravity of the payload at a distance of 1.1 m from the fulcrum point.

Total torque on the fulcrum point=TW= FW*1.1

= 67.9 Nm

Design Torque= 81.48 Nm
