This Study Resource Was: Objective

The document describes a compaction test procedure to determine the maximum dry density of soil. The test involves compacting soil in layers in a mold using a hammer and measuring the density at different moisture contents. Plotting dry density versus moisture content gives the optimum moisture content and maximum dry density of the soil. These values provide specifications for achieving proper compaction in the field for uses like highways and airports.

Objective:

The object of this test is to determine the

max.dry weight of compaction for soil, which
can be used as specification of field density.
