The Results-based Performance Management
System (RPMS) are tools that ensure the strategic,
responsive, and effective delivery of services of all
levels of DepEd so that it can effectively implement a
learner-centered, school-based management system
and the K to 12 strategies to improve the quality of
education in public schools. It is essential for everyone
in the department especially for teachers because it
serves as the performance assessment instrument that is
why we held a SLAC session on this matter.
Mr. ERVIN C REYES
Principal
Lalakay Elementary School
Last February 11, 2021, we had an online SLAC headed by our principal, Mr. Ervin C.
Reyes, we had a smooth and light session on learning about RPMS especially in the new
normal. The session started with an opening prayer lead by Ms. Jessa R. Paygane,
kindergarten teacher. The session finally started with the supervision of the father of the
district, Dr. Allan G. Hostalero. He always inspires teachers by giving them some tips on how
to maintain the fire burning and a heart in teaching. Reminding everyone that RPMS is not a
measurement of how good you are as a teacher but it is a tool where teachers can improve
and encouraged to become a part of the development of the school. He advised everyone to
take it lightly, do not stress and be happy. Right after, Mr. Reyes begun his talk with a
question regarding the difference of RPMs to PPST, teachers raised their ideas and
eventually Mr. Reyes explained and gave emphasis on the difference of the two. His talk
focuses on the updates for the S.Y. 2020-2021 RPMS. He clearly explained to everyone how
RPMS should be done in the new normal.
Classroom Observation

A classroom observation is a formal or informal observation of teaching while it is

taking place in a classroom or other learning environment. Typically conducted by fellow
teachers, administrators, or instructional specialists, classroom observations are often
used to provide teachers with constructive critical feedback aimed at improving their
classroom management and instructional techniques. Classroom observation had also
been affected by the Pandemic. In order to provide the MOV's needed for RPMS, Mr. Reyes
also explained the alternative classroom observation process and protocols, emphasizing
how should classroom observation should be conducted. In this present situation, it should
be either online, video lesson or demonstration via lac are the new ways of classroom
observation. Since our school is in modular distance modality, the best and most
appropriate way to conduct classroom observation is through demonstration via lac.
Lastly, Mr. Reyes led the monitoring and evaluation of the existing projects in our
school. He also reminded everyone of the things that we need to do. Before the online
session ended, Mr. Reyes reminded us with the quotation " Stay away from the negative
people, they have a problem for every solution".
