Lesson Plan Template 06 Video Lesson
- Identify the key elements of a video after listening it and list them.
- Produce sentences using the grammatical structures taught during the unit.
- Describe and share their own experiences relating them to the topic of the lesson using the grammatical structure and lexis taught during
the unit.
- Identify at least 20 different vocabulary elements connected to topic of the unit, the use of technology, Internet and social media.
The purpose of this lesson is to consolidate the grammatical and lexical content related to topic of the unit. They will be able to identify the use
of several functions of language such as express agreement, interest and advice. The video illustrates the content of the unit presenting it in a
context in which the students will be able to relate them to their own personal experience. In future lessons students will be able to identify the
grammatical structures presented in the video allowing them to perform more complex tasks such as role playing or record a video response
to a prompt provided by the teacher.
Instructional Materials/Resources:
For this lesson will be required:
- Internet connection
- A video display device such as a computer or cellphone.
- The book of the unit.
- Worksheets about the topic.

Concept Prerequisites:
For the following lesson students will require to understand the following:
- Addiction.
- Social media.
- Over use.
- Internet use.
- Functions of language: Express agreement or disagreement.
- Wh questions and How long/ often do you…?
Pre-viewing:
As a previewing activity the teacher will introduce the class asking the students “how many
hours a day do you use technological devices?”. Then, the teacher will ask some students “what
kind of activities can be performed using internet?”. The idea of this question is to connect the
use of technology to the use of social media and gaming. It is important to identify these uses
providing examples of social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. After
the students shared their opinions and ideas, the teacher will ask a third question, “How many
times do you check your cellphone? The teacher will ask several students to gather different
points of view and will write the main ideas on a digital blackboard.
Viewing Activities: The teacher will introduce the video by talking about the use of social media and technological
devices. The teacher will explain what does it mean to be addicted to something by providing
examples and detailing about what does it means to be over use Internet and social media. The
strategy used for the video will be “Discuss it”. The teacher will ask the students to answer some
questions regarding the video’s topic. These questions would be directed to determine how much
time is needed to consider the use of social media an addiction. To ensure students pay attention
to the video, the teacher will ask them to answer some questions:
After watching the video, the teacher will ask some students to share their answers and answer
the following questions:
- Do you visit your social networking sites with no goal or specific purpose in mind?
- Have you ever ignored a responsibility like homework or chores because of social
networking sites?
- Do you prefer to interact with people on social networking sites rather than face to face?
- Do you have more friends on your social networking sites than you do in your real life?
- Do you become frustrated or angry when a social networking site goes down or is
unavailable?
Then, the teacher will ask students to think in 3 advices to help people to deal with social media
and videogaming addiction.
Post viewing: Students will complete a quiz to check their level of addiction to social media.
