Warm – up Task
Look for any products in the following categories: Remember, the segments’ needs are
different.
Shoes
Sportswear
Sports equipment
Bag, etc.
Answer the following questions:
1. Interview your family members which of these following products above they like
the most? Choose only one product for each member of the family.
My sister, mother, auntie, and little sister prefer bag while my little brother and older brother
prefer shoes.
2. Identify and explain the different positioning in terms of 4 P’s: Product, Price,
Place, and Promotion about their chosen product.
For bag in terms of product itself, I think consumer especially females prefer this kind of product
because they perceive it as more feminine than anything else. Maybe because they always
wanted to be associated with their personal necessities that’s why they always carry a bag
everywhere they go. However for shoes, I think some people perceive this kind of product as
more inclined to man’s essentials maybe because they are more active to outdoor activities. For
bags in terms of price, I think some smart consumers will buy bags that are not too expensive
but more valuable like bags from online stores, it depends on the capabilities and behavior of
consumer in buying. For shoes, I think more consumers will buy branded shoes because they gain
satisfaction and confidence when they buy expensive product for them, but since online business
is more prominent today, many consumers now prefer to buy shoes online. For place, I think
many consumer prefer the brand of product that are accessible for them. I think the most
prominent place where consumers can access their favorite brand of bag is on the internet. The
same with shoes products customers often buy shoes to stores that are very convenient to access
in their area or buying it from online stores is best alternatives. In terms of promotion, I think
there are only few TV commercials offering bag and shoe products it is mostly promoted in the
internet. Many customers can easily attracted to online promotions and advertisement because
they offer fashionable and sophisticated items .
3. What are their favorite brands, and why?
In terms of brand of bags my mother and auntie prefer COACH bags because they have
good quality and sophisticated look. My younger sister prefer Jansport bags because he
like hiking with her friends and used to wear school bag to place her necessities while my
little sister wants any kind of bag as long as there’s Disney Princess characters printed
on it. However both my little and older brother prefer Nike brand of shoes because they
both inspired with basketball celebrities both local and international. They are also fun of
basketball games.
