CHAPTER 1
The Problem and its Background
Introduction
Mobile technologies change our daily lives in ways just like connectivity and
communication. As of now mobile learning change the way of learning and teaching methods.
But it’s indicate that mobile learning was not replace with formal education but it offers methods
to support learning outside the classroom and brings advantages for different interactions. It has
become common in schools, with most of them supporting a distance or virtual mode of learning
in which learning takes place with minimal or no physical interaction between the student and the
professor (Marcovitz, &Janiszewski, 2015).
Online Learning or Distance learning is performed through mobile
devices/application. It is instant and optionally accessible, anywhere and anytime learning, which
helps students to create their knowledge, collaborate with others and enrich their experiences.
Many would assume laptops and other forms of portable personal computers to be the most
common mobile devices employed, but in this time the use of smartphones has grown at a rate
almost ten times than computers, which increases the future importance of mobile-learning
(Wang, 2017)
The most effective mobile application during online school for the Information Technology
Department, it focuses on mobile application used by student and how they manage to work due
to a certain condition. The application used by students may be conducted and help people to
gathered information when they plan to study during this online classes. And also they can get
strategies and techniques they can imply.The purpose of this research is to know the effectiveness
of mobile application that they used during distance learning.

Significance of the study
This research will be significant to the following:

the other students about the most effective mobile application.

used during E-Learning, and what application is effective.

ideas and facts and this will be reliable source of information about the effectiveness of an mobile
application during online learning. It can be their guide to their own research.
Scope and Limitations
This research purpose is to know what mobile application is effective. The indicated study
consists of ideas on what to used during this Online Class. This study was restricted to 2nd year
information technology student in City of Malabon University only.This research uses structured
interview. This research is composed of 10 questions for each respondent.The respondents would
be ask for the effectiveness of an Mobile Application during this Online Learning.

Review of Related Literature
What Makes a Good Video Conferencing Application?
According to UcheChidera (2020), that Google Meet is likewise one of the most
secure video conferencing programs that you can use as an organization. Explicitly for Google
Meet, Google has taken other safety efforts to guarantee the privacy and security of your video
conferencing on G Meet. These measures are by default when you start using Google Meet, so you
don’t need to stress yourself to turn them on. Considering security and privacy issues, Google
Meet is the best option for schools who frowns at data breach. Google Meet is likewise the better
program if you have students that need to call-in as opposed to joining by means of video since
Google doesn’t charge an extra call-in fee. Generally speaking, Google is more cost-effective.
Teaching in a Time of Discord: Discord as an Alternative Tool for Learning
According to Keanu Plantilla (2020), that For some of us, e-learning has been a tough
transition. The persistent connection problems, the sluggish internet speeds, the draining video
calls, the frustrating delayed responses, and other uncontrollable factors have made virtual
classrooms an unpleasant experience. Yet, learning continues through online platforms. Discord
aims to help establish a community for learning where everyone can work together and be
collaborative as much as possible—a place that can be fun and interactive for both teachers and
students. Most of its features are designed to maximize participation, engagement, and
communication so everyone can be involved in the process

Mobile Applications’ Impact on Student Performance and Satisfaction
Recently, many have focused on mobile learning and its environment. Some have defined the
difference between e-learning and face to face learning, thate-learning is a learning process which
is supported by digital electronic tools and media, and uses mobile devices and wireless
transmission (Pinkwartet al,2003,). E-learning functions by integrating a number of hardware and
software technologies into multimedia applications to facilitate the understanding of educational
content, Mobile Application was designed to enhance students’ performance and experiences
within the online class during this times. It found that implementing e-learning is sufficient for
students.
The use of Google classroom in the learning process
According from the research of IK Sudarsana (2019), concluded that Google
Classroom is a part of Google Apps for Education (GAFE) from productivity applications for
teachers and students in learning and an online collaboration. This application is downloaded for
free but it must be placed at the level of educational institutions. The benefits of using google
classroom in implementing education in Indonesia is to improve the teachers' and students' quality
to use technology wisely, especially for learning process, saving time, being environmentally
friendly, overcoming distance of residence, increasing collaboration among students, timeless
communication, and as a secure document storage.
Usability of mobile applications
According to Nielsen (2013) Utility is an ability of a system to meet the needs of the
user. He does not consider this to be part of usability but a separate attribute of a system. If a
product fails to provide utility then it does not offer the features and functions required; the
usability of the application becomes good it will not allow the user to achieve their goals.
Likewise, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) defined usability as the ―Extent
to which a product can be used by specified users to achieve specified goals with effectiveness,

efficiency and satisfaction in a specified context of use‖ [5]. This definition identifies 3 factors
that should be considered when evaluating usability of an application.
Chapter III
Research Methodology
Research Design
The researchers used quantitative research in comparing the effectiveness of mobile application
that they utilized in this distance learning. And which mobile application that Students prefer
using during online class. Accoring to Sisinternational.com, quantitative it’s a structured way of
collecting and analyzing data obtained from different sources. It involves use of computational,
statistical, and mathematical tools to see the results. It is a conclusive purpose that tries to quantify
the matter and understand how prevalent it is by trying to find projectable results to a bigger
population. The researchers also used a descriptive research design in gathering information by
using surveys.
Sampling Technique
The researchers used simple random sampling to gather information in which mobile
application students prefer. Simple random sampling is a case each individual is chosen entirely
by chance and each member of the population has an equal chance, or probability, of being
selected. One way of obtaining a random sample is to give each individual in a population a
number, and then use a table of random numbers to decide which individuals to include.
Locale of the study
This research is conducted in City of Malabon University. Maya – Maya Cor. Pampano St.,
BrgyLongos,Malabon City.

The target population of this research are the 2nd year Information Techonologystudents of
City OfMalabon University.
Research Instrument
The researchers used survey questions in gathering data. The researchers created a
questions focusing on effectiveness of mobile application in online learning.
Data Gathering Procedures
The researcher utilized the following procedures in conducting the study:
1. The researchers will be needing 50 respondents from 2nd year IT students of CMU.
2. The researchers will made questions for the 2nd year students of City of Malabon
University.
3. The researchers will distribute the questionnaires to the 2nd year students
Statistical Treatment of Data
Percentage Distribution
A percentage distribution is display of data that specifies the percentage of observations that exist
for each data point or grouping data points.
The process of creating percentage distribution involves identifying the total number of
observations to be presented and counting the total number of observations with each data point.

Chapter IV
Presentation, Analysis And Interpretation of Data
This chapter overseen the presentation, analysis and interpretation of data gathered by the
researchers. This study aims to determine the most effective mobile application for Information
Technology Students. This chapter presents how the gathered data was collected, organized,
presented and analyzed. The researcher’s final respondents were lowered into thirty nine (39) from
the expected number of fifty (50) due to the absence of some respondents upon data gathering.
The information gathered is organized based on the participants' responses and their similarities. It
will be examined in a step-by-step manner, which will entail observation and sorting. All of the
responses will be summed up in each question and based on the researcher's assessment of the
data. We use a tabular presentation.

Table 2 shows most student choose Google meet as an effective mobile application with 35
respondents (89.75) while Ms Teams got only 4 people (10.3%) and others is 0%.

Table 3 shows 17 of the respondents (43.6%) find mobile application very

effective , 12 people (30/8%) is neutral, while 8 people (20.5%) is very much. Not at all and not
has a same with only 1 person (2.6%)

Table 5 shows most of the student spend much time in using Google meet
for online class, with 32 respondents (82.5%) while messenger only got 2 respondents (5.1%) and
others got the same only 1 person (2.6%)

respondents (92.3%) while messenger and google classroom with the same 23 people (59%) , Ms
teams got 13 respondents (33.3%), Gmail has 11 (28.2%), Facebook 10 (25.6%), Zoom got 4
(10.3%), and Discord got only 3(7.7%)

Table 7 shows 12 respondents (30.8%) find mobile application very effective to survive online
class , 11 (28.2%) is neutral, while 10 (25.6%) is very much. Not at all 4(10.3%), and not with
2(5.1%)

Table 8 shows 17 of the respondents (43.6%) chooses Google meet as their favorite during
online class, messenger got 19 (48.7%) , while facebook , google classroom and ms teams got the
same 2 (5.1%) , other got the same 1(2.6%)

online class, messenger got 21 (53.8%) , while google classroom is 18 (46.2%) , Ms teams
12(30.8%), Facebook 9(23.1%), gmail with 6(15.4%), Discord 5(12.8%) and Zoom with 2(5.1%)

Table 10 shows the rate of each mobile application that they are using, most of them are just in
the middle or the neutral rate, but google meet got the highest rate with 13 respondents saying its
high.

CHAPTER V
Summary, Findings, Conclusion and Recommendation
Summary
The study was conducted to find out the Effective Mobile Application for online class.
Specifically, it sought to answer the following problems:
The respondents consisted of 39 composed 2nd year Information Technology Students of
City Of Malabon University. These students comprised the total number of present during the
survey was conducted.
The tool that was used to gather the data was a survey questionnaire devised by the
researchers to answer the question posed for this research work. One set of questionnaire was a
standard base question on how to determine an effective mobile application.
In analysing the data, the researchers used the Frequency and Percentage Distribution in
order to understand and interpret these data correctly. The T-test and F-test were also used in
comparing various variables.

The data were classified in different tables and grouped together in relation to
problems posed in this particular study; thus, the researchers came up with the following findings:
1. Most of the 2nd year information technology students uses smartphone for online class.
2. They find mobile application as an effective tool to survive this semester.
3. They spend more time in google meet.
4. Messenger is the effective mobile application for communication.
5. Most of the respondents find google meet as an effective mobile application.
Conclusion
The aim of this research is to know, The most effective mobile application during online school
for the Information Technology Department in City of Malabon University. Primary Data were
collected by distributing randomly in the I.T Department to a 50 respondents. As mention earlier
in the introduction the purpose of this study is were to investigate the most effective mobile
application during online class and to rate the applications they using.
The following conclusion is the result of this study indicate that Google meet is the most used
application during online classes. The Messenger is an application where they used mostly when
communicating to the others. Smart phones is the most used of the student during their online
class.
In the hypothesis claim that the research is not proven because we the researcher did not do an
experiment.
Recommendation
The application should more updated to be easily to use when using in online class.
We recommend that they improve some applications so we can use as an alternative if something
is happened on application that we mostly used.

For the future researcher you can do an experiment to prove and to make it successful.
For the student you must used the applications in a good way and for educational purposes
only. Find the most effective mobile application that you can use during this Online Class.
