 Educational technology encompasses a wide variety of teaching and learning


methods, including the application of technology in the classroom. Its aim is to
enhance the learning environment, which is intended to enhance the students'
outcome.

1. Explain what educational technology is by using this graphic organizer.


According to AECT (2007), Educational technology or instructional technology is a dynamic
and interconnected mechanism that includes individuals, concepts, processes, organizations,
and technologies for identifying challenges and devising, applying, testing, and handling
solutions to human learning problems.

2. Using the three concentric circles given below, show that educational technology, instructional
technology is much broader than educational media and technology integration.

3. Differentiate education technology from technology in education by the help of these arrows.
The directions of the arrows suggest that they differ.

4. Give at least 3 uses or functions of educational technology. Categorize them either as


technology as teacher (source of knowledge) or technology as partner in learning (one that
engages the student in thinking and in the construction of knowledge and meaning). Use the
table given below. An example for each category is given for you.
