ULTRAVIOLET WATER STERILIZER

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING- to guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the
following:

1. READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.

2. DANGER - To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is
present nearelectrical equipment. Unless a situation encountered is explicitly
addressed by the provided maintenance and troubleshooting sections, do not
attempt repairs yourself. Please refer to an authorized service facility.

A.Carefully examine the water sterilizer after installation. It should not be plugged
in if there is wateron parts not intended to be wet.
B. Do not operate the water sterilizer if it is malfunctioning or if it isdropped or
damaged in any manner.

3. Always disconnect water flow and unplug a water sterilizer before performing cleaning or
maintenanceactivities. Never yank the cord to remove from an outlet grasp the wall plug and
pull to disconnected.

4. Do not use this water sterilizer for other than intended use (potable water applications). The
use ofattachments not approved, recommended or sold by the manufacturer / distributor may
cause an unsafecondition.

5. Intended for indoor use only. Do not install this water sterilizer where it will be exposed to the
weather or totemperatures below freezing. Do not store this water sterilizer where it will be
exposed to the weather. Donot store this water sterilizer where it will be exposed to
temperatures below freezing unless all water hasbeen drained from it and the water supply
has been disconnected.

6. Read and observe all the important notices and warnings on the water sterilizer.

7. If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord rated for
less Amperesor Watts than the water sterilizer rating may overheat. Care should be taken to
arrange the cord so that itwill not be tripped over or pulled.
WATER CHEMISTRY
Water quality is extremely important for the optimum performance of your UV system. The
following levels arerecommended for installation:

‧TOTAL IRON count is less than 0.3ppm (0.3mg/l)

‧HYDRAOGEN SULPHIDE count is less than 0.05ppm (0.05mg/l)

‧SUSPENDED SOLIDS count is less than 10ppm (10mg/l)

‧MANGANESE count is less than 0.05ppm (0.05mg/l)

‧HARDNESS count is less than 7gpg (over 7gpg, water should be softened.)

If your water chemistry contains levels in excess of those mentioned above, proper
pretreatment is recommended tocorrect these water problems prior to the installation of your UV
sterilizer.

INSTALLING YOUR STERILIZER

‧The complete water system, including any pressure or hot water tanks, must be sterilized
before start up byflushing with chlorine (household bleach) to destroy any residual
contamination.

‧The sterilizer should be connected to a ground fault interrupter.

‧The sterilizer is intended for indoor use only, do not install sterilizer where it may be exposed to
theweather.

‧ Install the sterilizer on cold water line only.

‧ If treating the entire house, install the sterilizer before any branch lines. Ideally, your

sterilizer shouldbe the last treatment your water receives prior to use.

‧ A 5 micron sediment filter must precede the sterilizer.

NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT A BURNING UV LAMP. Secure the lid, and allow the water
to runfor a few minutes to clear any air or dust that may be in the cell.

PLEASE NOTE:
1. When there is no flow, the water in the cell will become warm, as the UV sterilizer lamp is
always on.To remedy this, run a cold water tap anywhere in the house for a minute to flush
out the warm water.

2. Do not install after pump directly. Suggest installing after RO system with moderate flow
rate.

INSTALLATION STEPS

‧ Remove the Sterilizer from shipping carton.

‧ UV lamp is packed in a separate tube, take the tubes out and put aside.

‧ Loosen right side Aluminum End Cap.

‧ Remove the UV lamp from the tube and slide it into the quartz sleeve.

‧ Connect the four pins of UV LAMP with the lamp plug.

‧ Turn close the End Cap.

‧ Put on the Protective Cover.

‧ Repeat above steps when there is more than one UV lamp.

‧ Connect Inlet/Outlet port with tubing.

‧ Plug in the power line and check on the lamps of the Ballast.

‧ Lamp Green should be “ON”.

ACTUAL LIFE DEPENDS ON THE OPERATING CONDITIONS OF THE LAMP.

A. UV LAMP REPLACEMENT

1. There is NO need to disconnect the sterilizer from the water supply or to drain the water from
the reactorchamber. After 9000 hours of continuousoperation (approximately one year), the
UV lamp must be replaced.

2. Disconnect main power source and remove plastic protective cover of the sterilizer.
Remove lamp plug fromhollowed aluminum nut and disconnect lamp plug and UV lamp. (be
extremely careful when handling UV lamp as they are extremely fragile).

3. To install a new lamp, carefully remove from the protective tube and do not touch the lamp
“glass” with your hands.
Slide UV lamp into the quartz sleeve. Reconnect lamp plug to the UV pins, turn close
Aluminum nut and protective cover.

B. QUARTZ SLEEVE REPLACEMENT AND/OR CLEANING

1. Mineral deposits and sediment may accumulate on the quartz sleeve decreasing UV output.
Goodmaintenance of filtration equipment will reduce the accumulation of residues. If
necessary, remove the quartz sleeve after afew months and clean with a commercially
available scale remover (CLR, Lime-Away, etc.) and lint free cloth.Repeat theprocess as
often as necessary to keep the quartz sleeve clean.

2. Disconnect Power to remove the quartz sleeve. First remove the Plastic Protective Cover,
turn loose the aluminum end cap.
Remove UV lamp first, the quartz sleeve can be removed in thesame way as the UV lamp
(through the end of the sterilizer).
Carefully slide the quartz sleeve out of the chamber.
Wet the o-rings with water or a silicone-basedgrease and slide onto each end of the sleeve.
Hand-lock the Aluminum end cap to achieve a watertight seal. Then reinstallthe lamp.
