LESSON 2 – ORGANIZING YOUR LEARNING ACTION CELL (LAC)
Activity 1
1. Reflect on the objectives for conducting LAC sessions as listed in DO 35, s. 2016.
Rank the following objectives from easiest to the most difficult to achieve:
3 To improve the teaching-learning process to improve learning among students
4 To nurture successful teachers
1 To enable teachers to support each other to continuously improve their content
and pedagogical knowledge, practice, skills, and attitudes
2 To foster a professional collaborative spirit among School Heads, teachers, and
the community as a whole
2. What are the top three challenges to having a successful LAC? List down and
In every organization, there are always trials to encounter and eventually, overcome
to become a successful one. Likewise, having a successful LAC must undergo several
challenges. When this DO 35, s. 2016 was disseminated to us, particularly in our
department, it was not completely carried out with its tangible purpose and objectives. It
became an ordinary seminar like having lectures without a small conference or session
being held among teachers who were supposed to require technical assistance. However,

when I had an opportunity to attend the Division Training-Workshop on Coaching and
Mentoring for Performance Raters and Classroom Observers, I was enlightened at some
certain points.
Based on my tacit knowledge, the top three challenges to having a successful LAC include
1. managing problematic teacher-members,
2. targeting desired outcomes, and
3. demonstrating peer support.
There is a popular saying that “Nobody is perfect.” As much as we wanted to achieve
a 100% goal in the assigned task/s, some co-workers will not promptly comply, and the
worst is, they delegate their jobs to other members. When this scenario prolongs, managing
problematic teacher-members take place. I think strong encouragement and close
supervision are essentials to aid them in becoming independent LAC members.
Reality versus expectation is the frustrating part when we see our target desired
outcomes were not accomplished. Even though the LAC plan is crafted perfectly, there are
always flaws to be seen by many. For a few, the reality is so ideal but when it is already
finished, the expectation is not as good as perceived by all.
Finally, #we work as one is the key to success when it comes to collaborative works.
The role of each member is indispensable in reaching fruitful endeavors. No matter how
small or big is your part, the functions are interconnected. Thus, demonstrating peer support
is undeniably required.
