My father was interviewed about his opinion on extrajudicial killings in the Philippines. Based on the interview, he believes extrajudicial killings are unlawful, unjust, and unacceptable. They violate people's basic rights and have negative impacts on the families of those killed, who are often innocent. Extrajudicial killings also show that the justice system is unequal, with different treatment for people of higher and lower social classes. As a new generation, I hope these killings will stop so that all life is respected as a gift from God.

Direction: Interview your parents or guardians about their opinion on ONE of the

following contentious social issues: 1) SAME SEX MARRIAGE 2) PRE-MARITAL


SEX 3) EXTRA JUDICIAL KILLINGS. Make a transcript and reaction of the
interview based on what you have learned about the natural law theory of Aquinas.
(REMINDER: There is no need to video shoot the interview. Just take a pic or
require the signature of the interviewee as a proof.

Social issues include issues like poverty, violence, crime, religion, illiteracy
and racism that affect society. A social issue is a problem that influences a
considerable number of individuals. It is an aspect of society that people are
concerned about and would like to get it changed. One of the social issues that
included here is the extrajudicial killings that are very prevalent here in the
Philippines and base on what my father answer in our interview about this topic, I
realized that it was very sad to see how they kill their countrymen even they have no
idea if this person is innocent or not and how the impact of this to those family of the
killed person. Just like my father said it is very unlawful, unjust, and unacceptable to
this society not because we are an independent country, they already do what they
want like killing innocent people and I also realized here how very unequal the justice
system for those people who are in the high part of this society and the lower part.
As a part of the new generation, I wish that extrajudicial killings will stop and
everyone should give respect and value to the life that God gives to us.
