Process Control: Case Study - 4
1. A step change of magnitude 4 is introduced into a system having the transfer function
𝑌(𝑠) 10
=
𝑋(𝑠) 𝑠 + 1.6𝑠 + 4
Determine
a) Ultimate value of Y(t)
b) Percent Overshoot
c) Rise Time
d) Maximum Value of Y(t)
e) Ultimate Value of Y(t)
f) Period of Oscillation
2. Determine the transfer functions C/R, C/U1 & B/U2 for the system show in fig-1. Also determine
an expression for C in terms of R & U1 for the situation when both set-point change and load
change occur simultaneously.
3. Determine the transfer function C/R for the system shown in fig-2. This block diagram represents
a cascade control system, which will be discussed later.
4. Determine the transfer function Y9s)/X(s) for the block diagrams shown in fig-3. Express the
results in terms of Ga, Gb and Gc
6. For the control system shown in fig-5 determine the transfer function C(s)/R(s).
7. Derive the transfer function Y/X for the control system shown in fig-6
