Introductory Message
Welcome to Mathematics 10!
The Mathematics 10 Learning Activity Sheet will help you facilitate the
teaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning Competency (MELC)
with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and learner. This will be made
available to the learners with the references/links to ease the independent learning.

Quarter 2, Week 3
The table below will help you understand better the different terms related to circle.
Term Definition
Radius - A straight line segment that extends from the center to any point
on the circle.
All radii of the same circle are congruent. The measure of the
radius is one-half the measure of diameter.
Chord - A straight line segment whose endpoints both lie on the circle
Major Arc - An arc of a circle that measures greater than a 180º but less than
360º. Name using three capital letters.
Central -An angle formed by two rays whose vertex is the center of the circle
angle
1
Inscribed -An angle whose vertex is on the circle and whose sides contain the
angle chords of the circle
The relationships among Central Angles, Intercepted Arcs, and Inscribed Angles are
illustrated in the given figure below.
m ∠JZM = m JM
a. For thorough understanding on the relations of central angle, arcs, and inscribed angle,
study the text and examples presented on pages 140 – 142 of Mathematics 10
Learner’s Module.
b. Do the following activities found in your Mathematics 10 Learner’s Module
pages 150 to 151.
Activity 2
In ꙨK, BR and AY are the diameters, m∠AKE = 25º and mKY = 7cm.
A. Identify and name all the following parts of ꙨK. Use a separate sheet of paper for
your answer.
1. Radii
2. Chords
3. Diameters
4. Semicircle
5. Minor Arcs
6. Major Arcs
7. Central Angles
8. Inscribed Angles
To summarize what you have learned in this lesson, answer the following questions:
a. When an inscribed angle? How will you know that an angle is inscribed in a circle?
can you
say that
a chord
is a
diameter
? c. How will you know that an inscribed angle is a right angle?
b. W
h d. What can you say about the measure of the central angle and its intercepted arc?
a What about the measure of minor arc and its corresponding major arc? What
