User Guide
INTRODUCTION
Yamaha Motif XF is a Kontakt 5 sound library inspired by Motif XF workstation
(manufactured by japanese Yamaha, since August 2010).
Initially sell by TrueNotes, this is a sample library designed to be used with many
DAWs/CM softwares like Cubase, Logic, Alchemy, Reason or Kontakt.
Unfortunately, the Kontakt version (NKI format) has ton of bugs, like unsolved samples
folders or PAN badly defined. Several instruments aren't Motif XF compliant (you can
find some... Roland Fantom G sounds!) and several filenames are fantasy or funny!
By the way, I propose to you a "revisited" version of this sound library.
SPECIFICATIONS
‐ 937 differents instruments (total 1143 including two‐categories).
‐ 68 drum kits (aka "Voice Drum").

‐ Simple UI and wallpaper for every instrument.
‐ Custom "XF" icon for every instrument.
‐ Can be added as Kontakt library (left pane).
‐ Included three instruments sets (instrument folders & files organization).
REQUIREMENTS

‐ 26GB free space on hard disk for library installation.
INSTALLATION
For every DVD (DVD1 to DVD6), simply copy Yamaha Motif XF folder to any hard disk
(optionally to a subfolder).
During copy operations, always accept to merge folders.

Now Yamaha Motif XF can be used as any Kontakt library, like this:
Of couse, you can open any instrument by using Kontakt file browser ("Files" tab from
Kontakt left pane).
INSTRUMENT SETS
After copy all six DVD, you're ready to use instruments set #1 (corresponding to
"Instrument Set 1.zip" file content).
You can choose another instruments set (different instrument organization).
To do this:
‐ Close any Kontakt instance (highly recommended).
‐ From Windows Explorer or MacOS X Finder, open the folder where you have
installed Yamaha Motif XF.
‐ Delete entirely the "Instruments" subfolder.
‐ Unzip "Instrument Set x.zip" (x from 1 to 3) of your choice, you must have got
another "Instruments" subfolder with specific files/folders organization.
Instruments set #1 (defaut installation and "Instrument Set 1.zip" file) offers all
main/sub categories, regardling the real Motif XF (like SyCmp ‐ Analg or Piano ‐ APno,
for example) and compliant with Voice List (Yamaha Motif XF).pdf enclosed
document (itself based from official Yamaha Motif XF documentation).
Filenames for instruments are composed by:
‐ Bank ID, such PRE 1.
‐ Voice number, such 001(A01).
‐ Voice name, such Full Concert Grand.
As final you've got: PRE 1 001(A01) Full Concert Grand
For each category, all instruments are sorted by bank ID / voice number. They're few
instruments per folder, by this way you can find any instrument more quickly.
Instruments set # 2 (from "Instrument Set 2.zip" file) offers unified categories, used by
Motif XF Editor software from Yamaha :
Folder names are more explicit (like Acoustic Piano), however, and all categories
contain more instruments. The instrument names scheme are identically than set #1.
Finally, instruments set #3 (from "Instrument Set 3.zip" file) is identical than set #2,
except for instrument naming scheme: no bank ID, no voice number, but only voice
name, like Full Concert Grand, by this way all instruments are sorted by names
(instead of numbers) for every category.
I recommend to test every instruments set, so you'll can choose your favorite!
