Physics in My Life

This document provides examples of physics concepts found in everyday life, including measurements, kinematics, forces, electricity, waves, thermodynamics, and why physics is important. Measurements are used when baking cookies or making a scaled graph. Kinematics describes movement like jumping rope or walking. Forces include writing with a pencil or gravity. Electricity powers devices like lamps, air conditioners, and refrigerators. Waves transmit energy through radio, sound, and water. Thermodynamics involves heat transfer in refrigerators, phone batteries draining, and fires. The document emphasizes that physics underlies many everyday activities and is important because it is all around us.

Physics in Everyday Life

By Avery
Measurements
Measurement is basically just measuring. Some examples of measurements are:

● Making a scaled graph ( You have to record the distance. Then convert it into
something like 1 in. = 5 ft. Then make it using a ruler.)
● Baking cookies ( You use measurements in like cups and teaspoons to bake
all the time.)
Kinematics
Kinematics basically is just movement. Some examples of kinematics are:

● Jumping rope ( This uses kinematics because you are moving)

● Walking on the beach ( This uses kinematics simply by moving)

Kinematics are everywhere if you move that’s kinematics right there.

Forces
Forces is basically a push or pull upon an object resulting from the object's
interaction with another object. Some examples of forces are:

● Writing on paper ( pushing down when you write with your pencil)
● Gravity ( there’s 2 types of forces contact force and non- contact this is
non-contact force. Non- contact force can be gravity when somebody
jumps it forces them down with gravity.)
Electricity
Electricity is basically the presence and flow of electrical charge. Some examples
of electricity are:

● A lamp ( Electrons flow through a copper wire conductor to power the lamp)

You see electricity all over your house. Like your air conditioning, what
powers your fridge, your computer, Tv, and so much more.
Waves
Waves are a disturbance that travels through a medium, transporting energy
from one location (its source) to another location without transporting matter. I
got that from Physicsclassroom.com. Some examples of waves are:

● Phone ( Phones use radio waves. Radio waves carry the information and
travel in air at the speed of light.
● They are a lot of different types of waves slinky waves, string waves, cosine
waves, sine wave, water waves, radio waves, sound wave etc.
Thermodynamics
Thermodynamics basically is things that involve heat and other energy forms.
Some things that involve thermodynamics are:

● The refrigerator ( A refrigerator moves heat from inside the cold icebox (the
heat source) to the warmer room temperature air of the kitchen (the heat
sink).
● Phones battery life ( A phone dies basically because of thermodynamics.
Phones create a certain amount of wasted energy that can not be recovered)
● Fires (It changes the temperature around you)
Why Physics is Important
Physics is important because it’s everywhere. These are just
some examples of where physics are. We use physics by
walking, being on our phone, writing, and so much more.
