Preparing Instructional Materials: Learning Task

This document discusses a student teacher's learning task on preparing instructional materials for their practice teaching. It provides examples of printed and non-printed materials available at the student's cooperating school. The student lists materials they used in three lessons and analyzes factors to consider when preparing materials, such as appropriateness for diverse learners. Performance tasks involve finding online materials and taking notes on ICT in education. In reflections, the student recognizes the need for materials to aid different learning styles and be appropriate for various school environments.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
These are the tools/equipment which can effectively help the teacher in enhancing the
teaching- learning process. There are different kinds of instructional materials.
 Print materials – are items such as books, pamphlets, brochures, newspapers, and
magazines.
 Non-print materials – usually refer to as electronic materials.

My Tasks (Activities)
A. Visit the learning resource center/school library of my cooperating school. Interview the
school librarian on the different instructional materials available in my cooperating
school. List down some of these materials which I can use in your assigned episode.
PRINTED MATERIALS NON PRINTED MATERIALS

My Analysis
In preparing my instructional materials, I need to consider the following factors:
 Instructional materials are effective to promote learning

 Instructional materials must stir the attention of the learners.

 Instructional materials must be easy to understand. Concepts must be simple but

informative.

 Non-printed instructional materials such as technologies must be adopted while we are in

the transition to K-12.

 Printed instructional materials must be prepared when non- printed instructional materials

will not be operational in some instances such as power outages.

Information and communication technology (ICT) in education

Last update 11 Jan 21

BRIEF 4

ICT in education Information and Communications Technology (ICT) can impact student

learning when teachers are digitally literate and understand how to integrate it into

curriculum. Schools use a diverse set of ICT tools to communicate, create, disseminate, store,

and manage information.(6) In some contexts, ICT has also become integral to the teaching-

learning interaction, through such approaches as replacing chalkboards with interactive

digital whiteboards, using students’ own smartphones or other devices for learning during

class time, and the “flipped classroom” model where students watch lectures at home on the

computer and use classroom time for more interactive exercises. When teachers are digitally

literate and trained to use ICT, these approaches can lead to higher order thinking skills,

provide creative and individualized options for students to express their understandings,

and leave students better prepared to deal with ongoing technological change in society and

the workplace.(18)ICT issues planners must consider include: considering the total cost-

benefit equation, supplying and maintaining the requisite infrastructure, and ensuring

investments are matched with teacher support and other policies aimed at effective ICT use.

ICT in education

Information and communication technology (ICT) can complement, enrich and transform
education for the better.

As the lead United Nations agency for education, UNESCO guides international efforts to help
countries understand the role such technology can play to accelerate progress toward
Sustainable Development Goal 4(link is external) (SDG4), a vision captured in the Qingdao
Declaration.

UNESCO shares knowledge about the many ways technology can facilitate universal access to
education, bridge learning divides, support the development of teachers, enhance the quality
and relevance of learning, strengthen inclusion, and improve education administration and
governance.

The Organization scans the world for evidence of successful ICT in education practices – whether
in low-resource primary schools, universities in high-income countries, or vocational centres – to
formulate policy guidance.

My Reflections / My Insights
5|Pre-Service Teaching learning Tasks
In preparing my instructional materials, I realized that:

Instructional materials must be appropriate to diverse learners and school

environment. In an instance, it is a challenge for a teacher recreates instructional

materials based on the environment of the school. In some cases, we cannot use majority

of non-printed materials in far-flung schools wherein there is no electricity.

I need to prepare instructional materials so that it will aid the learners for an

easier transfer of learning. Transfer of learning cannot be easily gained with just

strategies such as lecture, instructional materials must intervene since it is said that

students nowadays are visual learners.
