The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology is to create an environment where all students, faculty and staff have
easy access to information technology resources and information they need and to be recognized as customer-focused
and strategic partner of University of Cagayan Valley in exploring the potential of emerging technologies.
Mission
The Program is committed to providing a broad range of information technology skills (hardware and software) designed
to meet student aspirations and endeavors to prepare and help students attain their educational goals with firm value-
based foundation for lifelong and successful career as I.T. professionals in order to make a positive contribution to the
society.
Program Objectives
The Information Technology Program is designed to prepare and train students with good breadth of knowledge in core
areas of information technology and synthesize data and technical concepts to work in teams effectively to create novel
products and solutions for the real life problems with high professionalism and ethical standards to obtain positions in
business, industry, and government.
Program Outcomes
a. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, including discrete mathematics, probability, statistics, science, computer
science electrical engineering as it applies to computer hardware and software.
b. An ability to design hardware and software systems, components, or processes to meet desired needs within realistic
constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
c. An ability to work individually or as a member with responsibility to function on multi-disciplinary teams.
d. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve hardware and software computing problems, accounting for the interaction
between hardware and software.
e. An understanding of professional, legal, and ethical issues and responsibilities.
f. An ability to communicate effectively in speech and in writing, including documentation of hardware and software systems.
g. Demonstrate an ability to acquire new knowledge in the computing discipline and to engage in life-long learning.
1. To work as a computing professional, utilizing the knowledge acquired in the BS in Information Technology program.
2. To engaged in the computing profession and be utilizing professional skills to make a positive impact on society.
3. Have participated in further professional development, employing the learning skills taught in the Information Technology
program.
4. To provide our graduates with learning environment awareness of the life-long learning needed for a successful
professional career and to introduce them to written ethical codes and guidelines, perform excellence, leadership and
demonstrate good citizenship.
5. To work as part of teams on multidisciplinary projects and diverse professional environments, and relate IT issues to the
society, global economy and to emerging technologies.
SAMPLE LEARNING OUTCOMES
Define the essential IT support techniques including installing software, configuring and securing networks, and
troubleshooting PCs.
Recognize usage of Microsoft office applications with their main features
Recognize the main programming languages and their compatibility in developing web application for specific business
environment
Apply basic computer information technology concepts of hardware and software to a variety of business environments.
Develop simple interactive web-based applications
Design a local area network for a medium size organization and manage it through Windows Server.

Investigate and analyze specific software and hardware problems
Apply mathematical skills in developing computer programs.
