SOFTWARE ON-LINE HELP... 8, AUTODIALLER UNIT SET-UP AND OPERATION, @The folloning tabie provides a guide tothe butions used in your GP 6000 software package: ‘GP 6000 monitoring and control software buttons: ALARM LAMP - Fauttlamo that luminates to indicate that the protective crcuity has sensed a fault condition. ‘The lamp flashes on an ALARM condition and lights Continuously on a SHUTOOWN condition. The specif haturo ofthe fault Getalled in the ALARM / EVENT LOG menu on the STATUS screen. TIOWN PAD" A pad to step downwards through the menu items or to decrease numerical values of parameters (eubject to security clearance), ‘ALARM RESET - By pressing his pad the audible alarm Is eset. Specic faults are reset by pressing the ALARM RESET pad when in the ALARM / EVENT LOG menu on the STATUS screen. EFT PADT - A pad to move cursor to the left on rumerical paremeters (subject fo security clearance} [ESC Press ths pad to exit from any mena, TIGHT PAD" - A pad to move cursor to the right on rumerical parameters (subject to secunty dearance) ‘COMMIT - Use ths pad to enter any menu or amendet ‘settings (subject to secunty clearance). 'BUNEABLE PAD" -A pad to move oursor into the ‘unnoable screen, [UP PADT- A pad to step upwards through the menu items or to increase numerical values of parameters (cubject to security clearance). TBTATUS PAD" -A pad fo move cursor ino the status GP 6000 control software only buttons ‘SPEED BIAS SWITCH - A svitch to manually conrot the generator speed bias. VOLTS BIAS SWITCH - A switch to manually control ‘the generator voltage bias. EMERGENCY STOP PUSHBUTTON - This switch ‘al immediately shut down the set and wll init Starting unt released. This package has been spedically designed for {co wah one or more generating cats equipped wit 6000 ‘Series Conttol Panos. The PC-Tools packago is availabe in {wo main forms - the monitoring version and the contol veslon, which ar subdivided ino 6 vaiants in ta. A bref ddescripten of each is given below: PC options: PC*: Ths option ofers monitoring ofthe 8000 series system ‘only via 8 dec hardvred connection tothe coil system. C2: This option ofes monitoring and contol of te 6000 series system via a deat hardFed comet fo te contol system. TEL options: TELt: This option offers meritoxng of te 6000 series system only via slandardtelepnane tne. ‘TEL2: This option ofee meritoing and contol of the £6000 seros system via a siandard telephone ine. TELS: This onion offers meritoing and contol ofthe 6000 series aystom via a standard telephone lino ith fault ‘let callback ona second standard tolophone tne. ‘The PC! and PC?2 options use a separate conto box per contol systom to intrface between the RS-232 serial, communications port of the montorng PC and the RS-£22 Communications network uso by the 6000 seres contol Banels. The GP 6000 software in conjunction wit the Servink softwar then uses the information transmitted by this communtaton patho alow usere te monitor or contol various aspects ofthe 6000 eties contol panel rom the compute. The TELI, TEL2 and TELS optons use a variant of this contol box per systom io nfrfac botveen the RS-422 ‘etork used by the 6000 series contol panes and the telephone tne. Each 6000 series system, which may consist of a number of generating sets only ecures one interface box. THs interface is wired io one of tre 6900 panels. These diskettes contain self installing software required for instalation ofthe Servink and GP £6000 onto a computer hard rive operating within 832 bit environment such as Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0. Note: Ifyou are unfamiliar with Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, oF ‘mouse operation, you should consult the manufacturer) Instructions before proceeding. ‘To install the sofware on your computer hard div, tun on your computer and wait untl the Windows desktop is displayed, Insert ciskette 1 of 4 into the 3.5° floppy ckve of your computer and follow the instructions below. 4. Goto the taskbar located atthe very bottom of the desktop ‘screen, and click once on the Windows Stet button. 2. Amenu of start options wil pop up ven the start toolbar button is icked on, Select the option labelled Run by ‘licking on it once with your let mouse button. ‘3. Adistogue box wil pop up. and wil ispiay a prompt window asking for the program you wish to run. If you know the eve letier allocated to your 3.5" Noppy disk with the 1 of 4 installation dsketto int, type tis drive letter, followed by a colon, and then a back slash folowed by the word “etup" For example, i the 3.5" floppy drive designation forthe Compute the software was to be installed on was A, the following would be typed into the dialogue box: AASETUP Note: ‘© you are unsure of which drive on your computers: designated as the 3.5" floppy drive, you can select the ‘shorieut on the Windows 98 desktop labelled Oy Computer” ‘and by double clicking on this icon, open up the window which displays the various drive and network connections for ‘Your computer. This letter is the letie which must be used when in the Run window dialogue box prior tothe set-up instruction, 4. When you have typed this command hit the Return (or enter) key. Windows wil then begin the automatic instalation process,8. The Seruink and GP 6000 software installation wil inty prompt the user itt may automaticaly crate a crectory on the hard drive of the computer, and label this directory OP 6000", Press the OK button and this directory wil be created {Al the Servink and GP 6000 software wil be placed under this directory on the computers hard dive. The status baron the set-up screen will appear to show the level of software installation that is complete ‘As the Installaon continues, the screen wil momentary show the Servlink and GP 6000 icons which ate created during the set: Up process. These Icons ace automatically inserted into the program menu of Windows 95 under tho GP 6000 tabel Once installation is complete, remove the fouth oppy disk, and insert diskette 1, ths to alow registration. Click once on the desktop toc bar Start button, and select the Programs option. Among the various programs on the computer hard drive should now be a program ‘10up called OP €000". Select this group, and the UPC! Serink Sorver, GP 6000 Contol Pen, and Urinstall GP 6000 Control Panel executable file Icon will eppear. The Remove program prompts the user prior to Uninstating the software to confi ths action, which areatly reduces accidental removal of the installed software HARDWARE INSTALLATION 341 Hardware Overview ‘Once the software is installed on the computer hard dive, the hardware eonneaion between the computer and the 6000 series control pane! must be made for corect communication between the two devices. This hardware connection Is completed in one of two way: Firstly, drect cable connection between the computer and the 16000 serias contro! pansi(s) RS-422 network using the 6000 PC Interface pane! (Figure 3.1). ‘Secondly, remote connection via modem between the ‘camputer and the 6000 series cantral panels) using the 6000 ‘TEL interface panel (Figure 3.3), Direct Cable connection between the computer nd 6000 series conirot pane\(s) wil be discussed fist as itis the most steight forward ofthe two connection methods.
