10.lesson Plan in Trigonometric Ratios

The lesson plan introduces trigonometric ratios to 10th grade mathematics students. It includes objectives to define and illustrate the six trigonometric ratios and actively participate in class discussion. The lesson will motivate students with an activity, present the six ratios and their abbreviations, and discuss their relationships to the sides of a right triangle. Students will learn that trigonometric ratios do not depend on triangle size because all right triangles with the same acute angle are similar. For evaluation, students identify ratio definitions, triangle sides, and ratio formulas. The homework assigns finding ratios in given triangles.

Detailed Lesson Plan

in
Mathematics -10

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
A. define Trigonometric Ratios;
B. illustrate the six trigonometric ratios; and
C. actively participate in the class discussion.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
A. Topic: The Six Trigonometric Ratios
B. References: Mathematics Learner’s Material, pages 430-446
C. Visual aids.
III. PROCEDURE
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Motivation
A. Motivation
Class, are you familiar with the game cross word
puzzle?

Yes ma’am.

So we’re going to have an activity for today called

“Find Me”. I will going to group you into 6. I’m only
giving you 4 minutes to do it and when you’re don,
clap and say “’Ma’am we’re done.

The students were do the activity.

B. Presentation
So class, what words did you find out?

Sine, Cosine, Tangent,

Cosecant, Secant, Cotangent,
Opposite, Hypotenuse, Adjacent,
and Right Triangles ma’am.

Very good. All of that are related to our topic for

today
C. Discussion
Our topic for today is all about Six Trigonometric
Ratios
Class, what is Trigonometric Ratios?

Trigonometric Ratios describes a

relationship between a side and an angle of
a triangle.

Very good.
Adjacent side is the side next to the reference angle in
a right triangle.

Opposite side is the side across the reference angle in a

right triangle.

Hypotenuse - is the longest side of a right triangle.

C B
a adjacent

We will uses the convention that angles are symbolized

by capital letters while the side opposite each angle
angle will carry the same letter symbol, in lowercase.

are reciprocal of the ratio.

What are the three sides of a right triangle?

Very good
What are the six trigonometric ratios?
Yes ma’am.
Class, remember that the trigonometric ratios do not Trigonometric ratios is a ratio that
depend on the size. This is because all right triangle describes a relationship between a side and
with an acute angle O are similar. an angle of a triangle
Two right triangle are said to be similar if their
corresponding angle are congruent and corresponding
sides are in proportion. In other words, similar triangles
have the same shape, but not necessarily the same size.

E. Application
I have 2 figures here. Draw these in your notebook.
After that, please determine which side is the
hypotenuse, adjacent, and opposite with respect to the
given angle O. And then find the six trigonometric
ratios of angle O.

6. The side across the reference angle in a right triangle.
7. Opposite to 90 angle in a right triangle.
8-13. What are the six trigonometric ratios?
14-19. What are the formula for the trigonometric ratios?
20. The trigonometric ratio do not depend on the side of the triangle. This is because all ight
