Aside from product and package designs, new technology is also
used in making animation and audiovisual presentation. This is
particularly useful for educational purposes. This makes learning
more fun and interesting for students. Manufacturers rely on
package designers to make sure the public knows the existence of
their new or reformulated products. To do this, they can make use
of new technology.
Lesson 1
Package and Product Design

Package design is a three-dimensional type of art that
includes of all the processes involved in creating
containers using colorful graphic design and the visible
specifics of a particular product that would entice a costumer to purchase it by retail or by mail.

Tips in Creating a Good Product Design


1. Create packaging that is immediately recognized by customers.
2. Make a packaging communication vehicle that talks about your product.
3. Design a product that is available in variety of sizes that meets customer consumption
requirements at an affordable price.
4. Your product must be able to deliver what it says in its advertisement.

Elements of Design
1. Color – It is important to be careful in choosing the colors to use in a design as it may change
the meaning within cultural contexts.
2. Shapes – Shape in a design can be categorized into two-mechanical shapes or geometrical
shapes and organic shapes.
3. Texture – Texture can be added to attract or resist interest to an element, depending on the
pleasantness of the texture.
4. Space – For a two-dimensional design, space concerns creating the illusion of a third
dimensional on a flat surface.
5. Form – Form may be described as any three-dimensional object. Its height, width, and dept
can be measured.

drying, and preserving the products. Its main purposes are to contain, handle, protect, and
transport goods. Companies usually use glass, metal, paper, and plastic as materials in
creating packages.
Packaging considerations include the following:
1. Label – The label should include a list of significant information about the product, such as its
ingredients and nutritional value.
2. Opening – The product should be easy to open or to access, especially if it needs to be
sampled or examined before purchasing.
The following are the steps in the process of the product design:

Audiovisual art is a form of art that can be enjoyed by the sense of sight and hearing. It
includes visual music, abstract film, audio visual performances, and installations.
Some of the examples of audiovisual art are the following:
1. Art of Dance – This audiovisual art involves a fusion of movement and tone.
2. Art that plays a blend of movement, words and visuals.
2. Art Opera - This is form of audiovisual art that combines movement, tone, and visual.

Audiovisual art can be made with the help of the video mapping technology also known as
projection mapping or spatial augmented reality.

Animation is the way of making films using a series of drawings, computer graphics, a
photograph that vary from one another, but once viewed quickly creates on appearance of
movement.
Types of Animation
The following are the types of animation.
1. Flipbook animation – It is the simplest ways to create animation using a pencil, eraser, and a
stack of paper.
2. Stop motion animation – This makes use of toys and posable figurines and sculptures then
as photo image.
3. 2-D animation – This is a method of flipbook animation where visuals are created by drawing
in a software resulting a smoother and more polished animation movements.

Activity 6: Research a step to create a simple animation, put it on Microsoft word and send it
through Genyo.

Activity 7: Your class will be divided into 4 groups. Each group should choose a software and
create a simple animation. Write a simple storyline on what your animation is all about.
