Problem 1: Though Lionel Messi has achieved many individuals and team based

award/trophies as a player of FC Barcelona, but still he cannot achieve any major trophy
as a player of Argentina. What is preventing him from winning the trophy? Describe it.

Answer: The main position of Lionel Messi is ‘Center Forward’. When he plays in FC
Barcelona, he plays at right wing. Basically, he always changes his position and moves
from center forward to right wing, sometimes play as an attacking center midfielder. FC
Barcelona mainly follows a tactics which is called ‘Tiki Taka’ that is a style of play in
football by short passing and movement, and maintaining possession. This tactics helps a
lot to Messi. It means that all players have to move together. Though Messi has some
unthinkable football skills, but when he fails to move the ball through defender, one or
more than one player always support(s) him. While, in Argentina, he does not get the
chance to move like that. Because, the formation of Argentina is always made on Messi’s
movement. If he fails to move the ball through defender, he does not get enough supports
from his teammates. Sometimes he drags the ball alone. It is happened because, his
teammates does not understand his mind so that they fail to move like him. Actually
Argentina depends totally on Messi. But, football is not a one person game. It is a team
game. A player cannot scores until he doesn’t get enough supports from others. That’s
why, we saw, at the start of the tournament in 2014 FIFA WORLD CUP SOUTH
AFRICA, he shown outstanding performance and elected as man of the match in their
first four matches. Other players could not do such performance. It is true that every team
has a key player. But it does not mean that key player always performs his best and other
players remain same. Then, in FC Barcelona, Xavi, Iniesta would not have been
considered as the best midfielder in the world. This does not happen because, FC
Barcelona never depends on one player, whereas Argentina always depends on Messi.
From the above discussion, we can say, when Messi is in Barcelona with a team, he
already knows his teammates mind. But Messi is in Argentina, this is not the same thing.
Argentina team is not organized the same way as FC Barcelona which is preventing him
from winning major trophies.

Problem 2: Can Argentina overcome from Problem 1 in the era of Lionel Messi? Do you
have any better solution which can help Lionel Messi to achieve major trophies with
Argentina?

Answer: We do believe, Argentina still has the ability to overcome from Problem 1 in
the era of Lionel Messi. We have some opinion which can help Messi to achieve major
trophies with Argentina. These are in the followings:
 Firstly, the formation of Argentina must be organized based on all player’s
movement. It should not be focused only on Messi’s movement. Argentina should set
the Diamond Formation which is 1-2-1-2-4.
 Argentina currently has some best attacking players like Di Maria, Sergio Aguero,
Lavezzi, Higuain. Sometimes they play to receive individual reward. The expectations
were so big on them, but for that reason, they could not assist Lionel Messi so much
in their previous three events. So, they must understand the tactics and create a better
combination which can build a strong attacking.
 Thirdly, Argentina Football Association should recruit a manager who can train his
players upon short passing and movement tactics. This tactics helps so much to Spain
for becoming the champion of the world.
 Fourthly, Captaincy of Argentina should remain on Messi. By Messi’s captaincy,
Argentina reached three major finals in a row.
 Fifthly, Football is a team game. Currently, Argentina is a competitive team. They
have the strong force. So they should all work together, remove selfishness and know
each other’s mind, then they will achieve their dream. Because, a team with the best
team work will be the champion.
