2.Market Location:
Market location is also yet another important fact or because the main oil consuming
Regions are dense and highly sophisticated like Delhi ,Mumbai ,Chennai etc .So
Establishing Oil refinery close to these places will help you to earn more profits as
Some refineries also establish them selves near ports so as to facilitate both import
(of crude oil ,this can be taken as part of the previous point)and export (of finished
products)E.g. the Haldia refinery .For both this point and the previous one ,ease of
access to the refinery location also becomes an important fact or to consider.
3.AvailabilityofLabour:
Man Power is also one of the major factor in starting a industry .Generally urban
Areas has good amount of skilled workers ,technicians ,construction materials rather
Than rural.
4.Taxes:
Generally Central government has a share of 25–28% as tax on final price of oil.
But tax implemented by state differs from state to state. Some states will have less
Percentage tax and some have more percentage .So Taxes also to be considered if
You want to run your refinery profitably.
6.Fire safety:
In refinery so many chemicals were used so care should be taken while handling in
Order to avoid fire hazards. Some chemicals like methane, hydrogen, carbon
Monoxide will ignite in absence of ignition source also so they should be handled
Very carefully. Some safety measures to be considered are:
• Designing, constructing, and operating petroleum refineries according to
International standards 13 for the prevention and control of fire and explosion
hazards
•Providing early warning systems, such as pressure monitoring of gas and liquid
Conveyance systems, in addition to smoke and heat detection for fires
•Avoiding potential sources of ignition(e.g., by configuring the layout of piping to
Avoid spills over high-temperature piping, equipment, and/or rotating machines
•Defining fire zone sand equipping them with a drainage system to collect and
Convey accidental releases of flammable liquids to a safe containment area,
Including secondary containment of storage tanks
