Activity No. 3 The Cell As A School (Module-1)

The cell is analogous to a school, with different organelles performing functions similar to roles in a school. The activity asks the student to identify the functions of various cell organelles and parts and match them to equivalent roles or locations in a school, such as the front office controlling access like the cell membrane. Organelles include the cytoplasm, mitochondria, lysosomes, vacuoles, Golgi bodies, endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, nucleus, chloroplasts, microfilaments, cilia, and peroxisomes.

The Cell as A School
No. 1.1

A cell is like a school. Each part of the cell (and school) has responsibilities that
must be done and certain organelles (people or places) to do them. Identify the
functions of the following parts of the cell. Then, identify which person does the same
job (or a place like it) in the school. The first one is done for you as an example to
follow.
Organelle Function/Description Part of the school that has
a similar function
Cell Membrane Controls what goes in and Front Office
