Course Description:
The objective of this course is to introduce the student to both the theory and applications of investment finance.
The student should obtain a broad knowledge of the investment alternatives, security markets, market structures,
trading mechanism, risk-return characteristics of investment products, valuation, analysis and management of bonds
and common stocks, market efficiency and investment performance evaluation through the course materials,
lectures and discussions.

Course Rules:
NO MAKE-UP EXAMS. Scores may be average from other exams if “considered” by the instructor in case of
documented illness or emergency. Selected problems and questions from the text will be reviewed in class.
However, the student is solely responsible for undertaking all assigned (end-of-the-chapter) problems and
questions. Please strive to get clarifications as much as necessary, in and out of class. Class participation is highly
encouraged for learning. All the above is subject to change.
Project Work:
Each student will be assigned to a portfolio-management group (5-6 students) to manage a portfolio. Details and
policies regarding this portfolio simulation will be outlined in the class.
