Chapter one

Introduction

1.1 Background

We are living in the world in which the population number is increasing rapidly. With the
development of society and the improvement of education level, the number of students in
today's society is increasing.With the increasing number of students there is a growing number
of students attending universities. Managing this large number of university society information
manually is not the suitable way for better efficiency and productivity.so it is better to
employee a digital system to improve data management.

There are various bodies which perform their own activities in the university environment.
Among those dormitory administration staff is the one which interact with numerous data
related to student’s information, resources related to dormitory, Procter’s information and
others. The student’s dormitory of a university is the main place to student’s daily life.so
managing information’s related to dormitory is vital part of university management.

However dormitory information management system is vital part of university management, it


is still continues to be one of the major problem in university environment to manage it in an
efficient way since it is managed mostly manually.

This project provides an efficient way of handling the data related to dormitory information
management system by creating highly efficient database by using series of techniques.

1.2 existing system

The existing system is more of traditional system that uses paper work for documentation and other
works except storing student’s personal information in a database and assigning dorms for students
basically performed by the application software. The existing system takes students information from
the registrar office stores it in a database system and by using an automatic dormitory placement
software assign dorms for students .
