Introduction
Johnson & Johnson :

Johnson and Johnson spread its roots to the world’s
largest democracy, India, during the endemic post-independence
turmoil of 1947. It was Mr. Patrick Whaley who set about with
confidence and determination during this period of turbulence to begin
the wok of establishing Johnson & Johnson in the subcontinent. Things
progressed quickly and by 1948, Johnson’s Baby Powder was being
manufactured by British Drug House in Prabhadevi, Bombay, and
marketed by the company.

Other consumer products like TEK toothbrushes, Johnson’s Baby Cream

and Prickly Heat Powder followed suit. However, highly specialized
products like Belladonna plasters, pharmaceuticals and Permacel Tapes
were imported from the parent company. It was only ten years later
that the company began to manufacture its own products.

Our History
Johnson & Johnson was founded more than 120 years ago. Since then,
we’ve brought the world new ideas and products that have transformed
human health and well-being.

In September 1957, a new company, Johnson & Johnson India Ltd. was
created and registered with twelve employees on its rolls.

In the 50 years since its establishment as a modest 12-employee outfit,

Johnson & Johnson Ltd. has gained a reputation for delivering high-
quality products at competitive prices. Our success, we believe, stems
from our staunch commitment to caring for and catering to the needs
of our customers and employees.

Our Purpose:
The Promise of Better Healthcare At Johnson & Johnson
Pharmaceutical Research and Development, L.L.C. (J&JPRD), we start
each day focused on the promise that better healthcare can bring to
patients around the world. By leveraging our world-class discovery and
development expertise, we bring innovative, effective treatments for
diabetes, cardiovascular disease, central nervous system disorders and
pain to ease patients' suffering and to significantly improve their health
and overall quality of life.

While some medical conditions are very treatable, and even curable,
for many patients, there are conditions where treatments are sub-
optimal or where there are a limited number of therapeutic options
available to afford them relief. Yet, the wealth of information generated
by modern medicine and the convergence of other fields underpinning
science-based healthcare solutions is changing the face of science and
medicine at an unprecedented pace, while opening a world of once-
unforeseen possibilities. Within our labs, scientists are harnessing
these advances and are breaking new ground in the development of
tomorrow's medicines, with the aim of bringing patients greater relief
through new treatment options.

Many of the compounds we are developing have the potential to be

first-in-class or best-in-class in their therapeutic category. As a result,
our pipeline is strong and robust in all stages of development with
technologically differentiated and therapeutically diverse compounds.

Research & Pipeline:
Performing innovative, quality research and development
is key to our future. We have grown our investment in R&D significantly
over the past five years and have attracted top researchers with a
passion for treating patients. J&JPRD is a part of Johnson & Johnson, and
as such, contributes to its overall pipeline. You can learn more about
the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical pipeline here.

Consistent with the company's long-standing tradition of serving

patients and physicians, the entire pharmaceuticals segment is
comprised of three, individually operated franchises, that focus on
researching specific therapeutic categories.

The CNS and Internal Medicine Franchise is comprised of a network of J&JPRD sites situated
across the globe, that collaborate to focus on solving the underpinnings of psychiatric and
other mental illnesses, pain management, anti-infectives, and cardiovascular and
metabolic diseases.

The Biotechnology, Immunology and Oncology Franchise is anchored at Centocor, focusing on

discovering and developing novel treatments for autoimmune diseases and cancers.

The Virology Franchise, headed by Tibotec, is developing a range of new

products, including innovative options for patients afflicted with the HIV
virus, and that will address the growing number and rate of Hepatitis C
infections.

We also and realize there is significant research possibilities outside of

our own laboratories, and therefore we embrace partnerships. We have

a deep history of successful relationships with the leading biotech and
pharmaceutical companies throughout the world.

Research and Early Development:

Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development, L.L.C.
(J&JPRD) in La Jolla, California was established to be a leading biotechnology center
with the ambitious mission of converting genomic discoveries into marketable drugs. Our
world-class biologists and chemists join forces to discover novel therapeutic agents that
address unmet medical needs in inflammation, immunosuppression, inflammatory pain,
central nervous system disorders, and metabolic diseases. Over 200 scientists comprise
the Therapeutic, Enabling, and Early Development teams that drive research on campus.

J&JPRD La Jolla's beautiful 307,000 square-foot research facility, completed in 2004,

was custom designed to provide an open and flexible environment that fosters
collaborative drug discovery. In 2005, the building received the Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design certification for New Construction (LEED®-NC certification)
from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Local Empowerment
Our exceptional scientists are urged to maximize their individual
contributions in small project-driven groups within larger interdependent and integrated
scientific teams. A decentralized decision-making process gives each team the agility,
freedom, and responsibility to choose its targets and set priorities. Our high regard for
rigorous science is reflected in our approach to rewarding and promoting scientists for
their research achievements. We offer a scientific career path that encourages scientific
excellence and gives accomplished scientists the opportunity to advance their careers and
to publish in first-tier scientific journals.

Stimulating Surroundings
The J&JPRD La Jolla campus is located in the heart of San Diego's thriving
academic and biomedical research community on Torrey Pines Mesa and is just minutes
from the California coastline. San Diego County is known for its mild Mediterranean
climate, varied terrain, 70 miles of pristine beaches, and world-class family attractions -
elements that create an exciting array of things to see and do around California's second
largest city.

Our Clinical Trials:

As a world-leading healthcare company, we recognize that transparency
about our clinical programs is part of our obligation to all who use or prescribe our
medicines. To make well-informed assessments about our products, caregivers must have
access to comprehensive and accurate information that is also balanced and timely. While
our product labels remain the primary source of information for assessing the safety and
effectiveness of our marketed medicines, registering and reporting the results of clinical
studies provides patients and health care professionals with additional medically
important information. Patients and health care providers can benefit from knowing about
clinical studies that are open for enrollment and the results of studies from our marketed
products. To ensure that information about our products and investigational drugs is
easily accessible, we publicly register clinical studies that are open for enrollment and
report the results of clinical trials on marketed medicines to the National Library of
Medicine's website: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov.
This site offers up-to-date information on federally and privately supported
clinical trials for a wide range of diseases and conditions.
For marketed medicines and investigational drugs, we will publicly register
adequately designed and well-controlled clinical studies and studies related to serious and
life-threatening diseases, regardless of location. We will reference the unique study
number associated with the registration of the study in all subsequent publications and
reports.
Within 12-to-18 months after a trial has been completed, we aim to make the
results of all adequately designed, and well-controlled clinical studies available in the
peer-reviewed literature, or on a clinical study results web site, or by presenting the data
at relevant scientific meetings.

Page

For marketed medicines, we will publish the results of all adequately designed and well-
controlled clinical studies regardless of outcome. In addition, we will assess the medical
importance of results from all other clinical studies of marketed medicines, regardless of
study design, and publish those study results that are significant and relevant to the
clinical use of the medicine and/or the care and safety of patients.

Conclusion:
Performing innovative, quality research and development is
key to our future. J&JP have grown their investment in R&D
significantly over the past five years and have attracted top
researchers with a passion for treating patients. J&JPRD is a part of
Johnson & Johnson, and as such, contributes to its overall pipeline. You
