LESSON PLAN: FAMILY and Coutable Nouns

I. Objective:

a. Define the importance of having family

b. Describe the members of a family

c. Differentiate the members of a family

d. Relate the members of a family to our own family

e. learn the “Can I ask you a question?”, “I have another/ one more

question”, and “What do you call…?” sentence patterns,

f. learn about countable nouns

II. Preparation

a. Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to introduce and provide

information about the different members of a family and coutable nouns.

b. Materials:

i. Stable internet Connection

ii. Google meet account

iii. Powepoint Presentation

III. Procedure
a. Anticipatory Set:

i. Sing the “Hello” song with your students

ii. Show a picture of and extended family photo and ask the question;

“what can you see in the picture?”, “how many people are there in

you family?”, “Who are they?”.

b. Body of the lesson/input:

i. Perform a role play activity with your students discussing about

family members.

ii. Ask questions related to the dialogue in the role play:

1. How do you spend time with your grandparents?

2. How many mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law does your

mother have?

3. How many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law does your

father have?

4. Provide a role play using the sentence patterns “Can I ask

you a question?”, “I have another/ one more question”, and

“What do you call..?” sentence patterns.

5. Show and describe picture about countable nouns,

IV. Closure

a. Provide a fill in the blanks activity with your student about family members.

b. Provide pictures about foods and ask students to count and describe what

they see in the picture.


c. Review the taget words, sentences and the grammar the students’ learned

in the lesson.

d. Sing the “Family” song.

V. Follow up activity

Make "My Family Tree" Posters: Ask the student to prepare a piece of colored

construction paper. Instructy them to make a family tree poster of their family.

Begin by demonstrating the activity - with a green and brown crayon draw a

large tree, filling up the whole piece of paper. At the top write in large letters

"My family". Then, either stick your photos family photos onto the tree or draw

pictures of your family (grandparents at the top, next your parents and you

and your siblings at the bottom). Finally, under each family member

photo/picture write the vocab (grandfather, mother, etc.).

VI. Evaluation

a. Assign a Homework: "My Family" worksheet.
