Complex Engineering Problem Problem Statement

The document describes a complex engineering problem - designing a cruise control system for a car using control theory. The objectives are to model the cruise control system in frequency domain and state space using MATLAB and simulate it with different test inputs to evaluate performance. Students are expected to demonstrate skills in control engineering modeling and design techniques to solve the problem. They will be evaluated based on their familiarity with control concepts, ability to use MATLAB to get solutions, and quality of their written report.

COMPLEX ENGINEERING PROBLEM

Problem Statement:
The cruise control system in a car is used to maintain a constant speed despite
external disturbances, such as changes in wind or road position. This will provide relief to
drivers on long drives and also economical in terms of fuel consumption.
Design a cruise control system of the car in frequency-domain and also in state-space. Make the
model of this cruise control system on MATLAB and simulate it for various test input to derive a
valid conclusion.

Objective:

Students will be able to apply the knowledge Instrumentation and Control in design and analysis
of practical feedback control systems.
