1. The key features that characterize human development are Physical Domain, Cognitive
Domain and Social/emotional Domain.
The physical domain includes the body size, body proportions, appearance, physical health, brain
development and motor development.
The cognitive domain includes the thought processes and intellectual abilities including
attention, memory, problem solving, imagination, creativity, academic and daily knowledge and
language.
Social/Emotional domain includes self-knowledge, moral reasoning, understanding and
expression of emotions, self-regulation, temperament, understanding others, interpersonal skills
and friendships.
These are the key features that characterize human development.
A child’s social behaviour gets shaped because of different parenting styles there are 4 types of
parenting styles
I. Authoritarian
II. Permissive
III. Authoritative
IV. Neglectful
In case of authoritarian parents they are very rigid and punitive as they enforce rigid rules and
demand strict obedience. In this case child’s social behaviour becomes obedient, unfriendly and
unsociable.
In case of permissive parents they are relaxed and gives inconsistent guidance and allows too
much freedom and doesn’t hold their child accountable for their actions. In this parenting style
the child’s social development becomes dependent, immature and low-self control.
In case of authoritative parents they provide firm, consistent and clear guidance combined with
love and affection. These parents set clear goals and try to reason with logic. In this style child’s
social development becomes independent, assertive and cooperative in nature.
In case of neglectful parents they are uninvolved or neglectful. They show little interest in their
children and emotionally detached. They just provide food, clothing and shelter. In this way the
child’s social development becomes extreme and rejecting behaviour and disrespectful in nature.
These are the child’s development based on different parenting styles.
Section-B
2. The functions of emotions are
i. Prepare us for our actions.
ii. Shape our future behaviour.
iii. Help us interact with others more effectively.
According to Schachter-Singer theory there are two factors of emotion first is environmental
factor which depends on how the environment us interpreted and labelled and another factor is
emotional factor which depends on past experiences related to the event. A person can
experience intense emotional event if a very dear person or pet dies or becomes sick. Seeing that
pet or person sick or realizing the person or pet is no more will make that person experience an
intense emotional event. And for that whenever that person will see another sick person or pet
he/she will remember that past emotional event and that will trigger that emotional experience.
Same will happen if that person sees a death of another person or pet he/she will experience the
same emotional event.
3. According to cognitive theory of motivation we become motivated for our thoughts,
expectations and goals and their cognitions. That is a person will feel motivated if that task or
goal is worth trying for him/her. Basically if the person thinks doing the task will help him/her to
reach a goal he/she will be motivated to do that. For example if I think studying till late night
will help me get good grades I will be motivated to study till late night.
Cognitive theorist distinguished 2 types of motivation Extrinsic and Intrinsic motivation.
Extrinsic Motivation is the type of motivation which the person performs an action for an
outcome which is separate from that person. For example studying hard for getting job and
earning money later.
Intrinsic motivation is the type of motivation that a person performs an action for rewarding or
satisfying him/herself for example: Playing football for the fun of it.
4. There is no direct way to evaluate the difference in intelligence capacity between Albert
Einstein and William Shakespeare. They were both intelligent in their own way. According to
Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences there are 8 different form of intelligence. Musical, Bodily
Kinesthetic, Logico-Mathematical, Linguistic, Spatial, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal and
Naturalist. According to that the intelligence of Albert Einstein falls under the Logico-
Mathematical form where one has the skills in problem solving and scientific thinking. On the
other hand the intelligence of William Shakespeare falls under Linguistic and Intrapersonal form
where in Linguistic there are skills involving production and use of language and in Intrapersonal
form the skills involve the knowledge of internal aspects of oneself
So it can be said that they were both highly intelligent in their own way and there is no way kf
evaluating the difference of their intelligence capacity.
