SUGGESTED ONE DAY ITINERARY IN PARIS

1. LOUVRE PALACE

http://www.louvre.fr/en/homepage for more details.

Louvre Palace houses one of the world’s largest museums, id est nearly 35,000 objects
from prehistory to the 21st century exhibited over an area of 60,600 square metres
(652,300 square feet).
You may access through subway station Palais Royal – Musée du Louvre

As the museum is quite immense, you shall not foresee a complete visit, and prefer
selected areas of sightseeing.

2. CHAMPS-ELYSÉES
Champs Elysées Avenue is usually considered as the ‘most beautiful on Earth’. All along
the avenue you may find dedicated stores (Disney Store, Gap, Louis Vuitton, Abercrombie
& Fitch...). Arc de Triomphe (Triumphal Arch) sort of crowns the avenue on its western
end: this 50 m (164 ft) high white marble monument was originally designed to celebrate
Emperor Napoleon I victories, though it was finally achieved years after his death.
You may access either directly through Charles-de-Gaulle - Étoile , or Franklin

D. Roosevelt if you wish to have a look at some of the finest white carved stone

façades (Haussmannian architecture https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haussmann

%27s_renovation_of_Paris).
There are many restaurants in the area, for all tastes (most of the time the best ones in
the side streets, so don’t hesitate to have a look...).

3. TOUR EIFFEL (EIFFEL TOWER)

Turn of 20th century iron-structure designed by world-famous engineer Gustave Eiffel -

who actually also conceived New York City’s Statue of Liberty - so iconic of Paris.
You may access directly from Charles-de-Gaulle - Étoile to Bir-Hakeim

as you can see below:

4. INVALIDES - MUSÉE DE L’ARMÉE (MILITARY MUSEUM)

Very interesting piece of French heritage, this used to be a place dedicated to war
invalids in Louis XIV’s times. It now houses Military Museum (free access for military
people, ID card needed). You may also admire Napoleon’s huge red alabaster
sarcophagus in Saint-Louis des Invalides chapel - which is included in the visit.
Military Museum spans war history from the Middle Ages on to World War II.
You may access directly from Champ de Mars - Tour Eiffel (which is ‘RER

C’, a kind of suburban train complementary to subway system - and co-located with Bir-
Hakeim above-mentioned). Take the so-called RER C to Invalides .

5. IF YOU STILL HAVE SOME TIME... DON’T FORGET TO HAVE A LOOK AT

NOTRE-DAME CATHEDRAL LOCATED ON ‘ÎLE DE LA CITÉ’ (CITY ISLAND)
You may access it resorting once more to from Invalides to Saint-Michel -

Notre-Dame which is only two stops away.
