9.3.2.19 Ensure the conduits are cleaned and dry internally before installation of wiring.
9.3.2.20 G.I. conduits run on the surface shall be secured with galvanized saddles spaced not
more than 2 meters apart; on the other hand, a space bar type saddles will not be
permitted.
9.3.2.21 Conduits shall not be run closer than 0.15m to any steam or hot water pipes and shall
be run underneath such pipes rather than over them. It should not also be run closer than
0.05m to any telephone, bell or other signalling circuit.
9.3.2.22 No wiring or draw-in wires, cables or wire of any description are to be drawn into the
conduits until the section of the conduit system involved is complete.
9.3.2.23 Drawn-in boxes must be provided to give access to all conduits for the drawing-in or
out of any cable after the installation is completed.
9.3.2.24 Particular care shall be taken to ensure that no grout or other foreign materials enters
the conduit system through joints, or through surface openings. Screw holes in boxes
must keep entirely free and clean.
9.3.2.25 After screwing, a compressed air is to be blown through the conduit system to ensure
that it is clean and a steel draw wire of adequate size to be pulled through to a certain
that no obstructions is adhering to the inside of the conduits.
9.3.3.1 Ensure all the relevant documents and approved drawings and materials are available
with the installation team.

9.3.3.2 Transfer the required amount of wires from stores to the work place.
9.3.3.3 Prior to pulling of wires, check and ensure there are no sharp edges or burrs in the
raceways and conduits to prevent damage while pulling wires.
9.3.3.4 Blockage shall be checked by inserting the draw wire and checking that it reaches to the
other end without any disturbance.
9.3.3.5 Identify the correct size and colour of wire, cut to the required length. Follow to the list of
size in the approved drawing
9.3.3.6 In case of trunking each circuit shall be taped or stapped together at intervals, and place
the wires in trunking. Pulling is not allowed in trunking.
9.3.3.7 Do not bunch two circuits together, if done so, for easy installation, shall be removed after
installation.
9.3.3.8 For short runs with few wires, pair conductors and push those through the conduit run
from box to box.
9.3.3.9 When the conduit run has several bends and more than two conductors, must use a fish
tape to pull wire. After barring the conductor ends of insulation, connect them to the fish
tape. Tape the conductor junction to the fish tape to preclude damaging the conduit
interior and existing conductors in the conduit. Taping also compacts and strengthens the
joint to ensure easier pulling. Attachment of fish wire is demonstrated in Fig.10.
9.3.3.10 Pulling compound or lubricant shall be used for pulling the wires where required.
9.3.3.11 For efficient and safe operation, wire pulling is generally a two-man procedure. One
electrician pulls the conductors through the conduit, while the other feeds the conductors
Page 23 of 83

into the conduit. In this operation, take care in feeding and pulling the wires so that they
maintain their same relative position in the conduit throughout the run length, thus
avoiding insulation injury.
9.3.3.13 Where trunking installed vertically, pin rack shall be provided at 3m centres at 3m
centres to avoid strain on conductors.
9.3.3.14 Leave a minimum of 250mm length or more according to the requirement which
should be enough for connection to the desired terminals.
9.3.3.15 No exceptions to the standard colour coding of wires are permitted in conduit wiring.
All load utilization devices (fixtures and receptacles) operating at line-to-neutral voltage in
a grounded neutral system must be connected to both red and a black (or substitute
colour) wire.
9.3.3.16 Cover all the pull boxes and ensure safe & secure connection.

9.3.3.17.2.1 Carry out the concealed conduit work after the construction of masonry walls
but before the plastering work starts.
9.3.3.17.2.2 Once the curing of brickwork is completed, carry out the chasing work.
Ideally, maintain a gap of 7 days between the two activities.
9.3.3.17.2.3 Do the wall chasing with wall cutters only as this would avoid damage to the
walls.
9.3.3.17.2.4 Fix the electrical conduits with the approved clips to ensure proper routing
and wiring.
9.3.3.17.2.5 Once the conduits, boxes and accessories are fixed, fill the chiselled surface
with cement mortar and chick mesh wrapped around the conduits.
9.3.3.17.2.6 Start the wall conducting activity with level marking on the wall, keeping the
height above FFL (Finished floor level) in mind.
9.3.3.17.2.7 Limit the width of chasing as per the number of conduits.
9.3.3.17.2.8 The depth of chasing should be at least 10 mm from the masonry wall to have
the conduit recess.
9.3.3.17.2.9 Make sure that all the horizontal conduit runs are straight at the box level.
The light point conduit should run straight vertically to the switch box. Make
sure no wall conduit is taken haphazardly. Don’t use any elbows or bends. Use
a spring to bend if you want to change the direction of the pipe.
9.3.3.17.2.10 Don’t run power conduits near any communication line. Run the
conduits above the false ceiling with proper support. Don’t rest them on the
false ceiling in any case. Seal the vertical runs with open ends at the top if you
have false ceiling work.

9.3.4.2 It is important to make sure the die is appropriate for your wire gauge, as each piece is
designed for a specific range.
9.3.4.4 Pull the insulation away to expose the bare wire inside. Apply pressure to the crimper
handles and pull the tool away from the wire to rip the insulation off. The exposed wire
inside should be the same length as the metal connector barrel.

9.3.4.6 Insert the wire into the connector until the insulation touches the barrel.
9.3.4.7 Place the barrel of the connector into the appropriate crimper slot. Place the terminal in
the horizontal position with its barrel side facing upward and the flat side facing
downward. Now, hold the tool perpendicular to the barrel. For tools with colored
markings, match the insulation with the appropriate color on the crimper.
9.3.4.8 Squeeze the crimper over the barrel with considerable force. For manual crimpers, hold
the tool perpendicular to the terminal and over the barrel—closer to the ring than the
wire insulation. Hold the crimper steady and squeeze the handles with a considerable
amount of force. Don't worry about applying too much pressure—it's nearly impossible
to "over crimp."

measurement.
9.3.5.1.4 Test voltage and time limit shall be defined before leads are connected to the
desired points.
9.3.5.1.5 Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) test leads to the corresponding inputs of
the tester as appeared in Fig.11.
9.3.5.1.6 The Insulation resistance test between Phase-Neutral to earth shall be carried out
on the complete installation with the main switch off, with phase and neutral
connected together, with lamps and other equipment disconnected, but with
fuses in, circuit breakers closed and all circuit switches closed.
9.3.5.1.7 In the case of a very large installation where there are many earth paths in
parallel, the reading would be expected to be lower. If this happens, the
installation should be subdivided and retested, when each part must meet the
minimum requirement. The arrangement is appeared in Fig.12.

LIMITED WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Each Fluke product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service. The warranty period is three years and begins
on the date of shipment. Parts, product repairs, and services are warranted for 90 days. This warranty extends only to the original buyer or end-user customer of a
Fluke authorized reseller, and does not apply to fuses, disposable batteries, or to any product which, in Fluke's opinion, has been misused, altered, neglected,
contaminated, or damaged by accident or abnormal conditions of operation or handling. Fluke warrants that software will operate substantially in accordance with its
functional specifications for 90 days and that it has been properly recorded on non-defective media. Fluke does not warrant that software will be error free or operate
without interruption.
Fluke authorized resellers shall extend this warranty on new and unused products to end-user customers only but have no authority to extend a greater or different
warranty on behalf of Fluke. Warranty support is available only if product is purchased through a Fluke authorized sales outlet or Buyer has paid the applicable
international price. Fluke reserves the right to invoice Buyer for importation costs of repair/replacement parts when product purchased in one country is submitted for
repair in another country.
Fluke's warranty obligation is limited, at Fluke's option, to refund of the purchase price, free of charge repair, or replacement of a defective product which is returned
to a Fluke authorized service center within the warranty period.
To obtain warranty service, contact your nearest Fluke authorized service center to obtain return authorization information, then send the product to that service
center, with a description of the difficulty, postage and insurance prepaid (FOB Destination). Fluke assumes no risk for damage in transit. Following warranty repair,
the product will be returned to Buyer, transportation prepaid (FOB Destination). If Fluke determines that failure was caused by neglect, misuse, contamination,
alteration, accident, or abnormal condition of operation or handling, including overvoltage failures caused by use outside the product’s specified rating, or normal
wear and tear of mechanical components, Fluke will provide an estimate of repair costs and obtain authorization before commencing the work. Following repair, the
product will be returned to the Buyer transportation prepaid and the Buyer will be billed for the repair and return transportation charges (FOB Shipping Point).
THIS WARRANTY IS BUYER'S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY AND IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT
NOT LIMITED TO ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. FLUKE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR
ANY SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR LOSSES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM ANY CAUSE OR
THEORY.
Since some countries or states do not allow limitation of the term of an implied warranty, or exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, the
limitations and exclusions of this warranty may not apply to every buyer. If any provision of this Warranty is held invalid or unenforceable by a court or other decision-
maker of competent jurisdiction, such holding will not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision.
