Suggested Lesson Plans – i-Learn My Phonics – Grade 2 Semester II

WEEK 32 – GRADE 2 – REVISION (35 minutes) PERIOD 64


Objectives:
 To consolidate the sound of the letters Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy and Zz and the corresponding words

Speaking, Writing Phonics Grade 2,  Hand out the cards to various students.
pupil’s book –  Teacher say out a sound, the students holding the cards with that sound come to give the cards
Vocabulary p.40 & 41 to the teacher.
Revision OR
- Van, vase, violet, Materials Activity: Stand and Sit
violin  CD  Tell the students to listen for words that begin with e.g the /j/ sound
- Well, watch,  Phonics cards  Ask the students to stand up when they hear words beginning with /j/ sound and sit when they

 Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help, ask individual students to say out the
sounds or the items.
 Ask the class to say out the name of each item and the correct letter of each one.

3. Say the word. Circle the ones that begin with the same sound (5 mins)
 Explain the activity
 Ask the students to say the words for each picture
 Then ask them to circle the ones that begin with the same sound
 Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help

4. Listen and circle. (Track 87) (5 mins)


 Explain the activity
 Elicit the names of the items
 Play the CD
 The students listen and circle the correct picture
 Listen again, pause and ask the students to repeat the item they hear.
Answer key: 1. yellow 2. ox 3. watch 4. van

Activity: Run and Touch (7 mins)


 Divide the class into two teams, A and B, make 2 lines
 Put up the phonics cards (from part 4) on the board.
 Say the word. Two students, one from each team, race to touch the cards.
 The first student to touch the card wins a point for his/her team.
 The team with more points wins the game.
Teacher can make paper planes/ paper balls for the students to throw at the cards.
