Underground Utilities Way Design Based On AASHTO-17th & 2018 IBC

The design is for an underground utilities way consisting of a tunnel-shaped or circular section to house sewer, water, and gas pipes. It directly embeds these utility pipes in concrete instead of placing them under building foundations, which could compromise the foundation over time if the pipes leak. The design was analyzed using finite element modeling and checked against design standards to verify the structural capacity and integrity of the tunnel is adequate to support the soil and utility pipe loads. Key outputs of the analysis show the design satisfies requirements for reinforcement spacing, moment and axial capacity, and shear strength.

Underground Utilities Way Design Based on AASHTO-17th & 2018 IBC
DESIGN CRITERIA
1. The design that directly put utilities (sewer pipe, water main, or gas line) under foundation (PT/conventional slab on grade, mat footing) is inadequate. Even later
the method of Trenchless Technology can be used to change/upgrade pipes, the leaking water and disturbed soil will reduce foundation capacity. For no California
Basement, this software design combined utility (sewer, water, and gas) pipe way, which can be tunnel-shaped or full circler section (D + S = C).
2. No matter how big structural actual loads, if the foundation design adequate, the maximum vertical pressure of utility pipe way is allowable soil capacity plus soil,
weight, and the maximum lateral pressure is allowable soil capacity.
