KSSM Mathematics Form 2 Chapter 4 Polygons 4.2.4

The document contains 3 geometry word problems involving polygons. The first asks to find the values of x and y for an octagon and hexagon combined at one side. The second asks to find the value of x for a pentagon with 3 sides of a regular polygon centered at one vertex. The third asks to find the number of sides of a regular polygon given one polygon is a regular octagon with an equilateral triangle inside. It also contains 2 additional practice problems asking to find the value of x and the number of sides of an incomplete regular polygon.

CHAPTER 4 POLYGONS

4.2.4 Solve problems involving polygons. TP4/TP5

1. The diagram shows the surfaces of two tables, P and Q, which are octagon and regular hexagon in shape
respectively. The two tables are combined at AB. Find the values of x and y.

2. In the diagram, PQRST is a pentagon. TU, UV and VQ are three sides of a regular polygon with centre P.
Find the value of x.

3. In the diagram, EFGHJKLM is a regular octagon and EMN is an equilateral triangle. LM and MN are two
sides of a regular polygon R. Find the number of sides of the regular polygon R.
PT3 Practice:

(b) Find the value of x of each of the following.

(c) In the diagram, EFGHMN is a regular hexagon and HJLM is a square. PN, NM, ML and LK are a few sides of
an incomplete regular polygon. Find the number of sides of the incomplete polygon.

KBAT: Calculate the value of a + b + c + d + e + f + g + h for the diagram.
