Scientific Development
Scientific Development
State a brief history or discovery that brought about the invention or discovery of the following things
stated below. State their contributions in our scientific development. ( Summary only please )
a. gravity
The legend is that Newton discovered Gravity when he saw a falling apple while thinking about the
forces of nature. Whatever really happened, Newton realized that some force must be acting on falling
objects like apples because otherwise they would not start moving from rest.
Primitive Gravity creates the mass of matter and magnetic energy from the Universe wide quasi electric
Aether. Gravity at our level of reality, provides the ongoing support to enable the constant existing of
the mass-density of our matter particles. Gravitation effect, which is often confused with Gravity, is
responsible for the attraction between matter particles.
b. telescope
The first person to apply for a patent for a telescope was Dutch eyeglass maker Hans Lippershey (or
Lipperhey). In 1608, Lippershey laid claim to a device that could magnify objects three times. His
telescope had a concave eyepiece aligned with a convex objective lens. One story goes that he got the
idea for his design after observing two children in his shop holding up two lenses that made a distant
weather vane appear close.
The telescope is undoubtedly the most important investigative tool in astronomy. It provides a means of
collecting and analyzing radiation from celestial objects, even those in the far reaches of the universe.
c. processed food
In 1810 Napoleon Bonaparte awarded French innovator Nicolas Appert 12,000 francs for his invention of
canning. Napoleon had an army to feed and needed a ready supply of long-lasting food. Later that same
century industrialists used Appert’s discovery and the inventions of many others to begin mass-
producing canned produce, cereal, and crackers. For the first time food was made at factories far from
consumers.
Both fresh and processed foods make up vital parts of the food supply. Processed food contributes to
both food security (ensuring that sufficient food is available) and nutrition security (ensuring that food
quality meets human nutrient needs).
d. microscope
Two Dutch spectacle-makers and father-and-son team, Hans and Zacharias Janssen, create the first
microscope. By placing different types and sizes of lenses in opposite ends of tubes, they discovered that
small objects were enlarged.
A microscope allows scientists to view detailed relationships between the structures and functions at
different levels of resolution. Microscopes have continued to be improved since they were first invented
and used by early scientists like Anthony Leeuwenhoek to observe bacteria, yeast and blood cells.
e. radio
The early history of radio is the history of technology that produces and uses radio instruments that use
radio waves. Within the timeline of radio, many people contributed theory and inventions in what
became radio. Radio development began as "wireless telegraphy". Later radio history increasingly
involves matters of broadcasting.
For just 5 years short of a century, radio has shaped and advanced society like nothing that came before
it. Radio has changed the way we communicate with each other, how we share and promote our
thoughts, opinions and creations — but not just that; at times, your radio is your companion: loyal and
enlightening, ever prepared to share music with you or give you the latest headlines.
f. benzene ring
German chemist August Kekulé visualized the ring structure of benzene in 1865. Most organic chemical
compounds contain loops of six carbon atoms called benzene rings. The nineteenth-century German
chemist August Kekulé claimed to have pictured the ring structure of benzene after dreaming of a snake
eating its own tail.
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) story began in 1976 when the European particle physics community
began to discuss building a Large Electron Positron (LEP) collider at CERN. LEP was, of course, eventually
built and installed in a 27 km tunnel, which today houses the LHC
The LHC allows scientists to reproduce the conditions that existed within a billionth of a second after the
Big Bang by colliding beams of high-energy protons or ions at colossal speeds, close to the speed of light.
h. guns
The first device identified as a gun, a bamboo tube that used gunpowder to fire a spear, appeared in
China around AD 1000.[2] The Chinese had previously invented gunpowder in the 9th century.
Guns changed the world by allowing less physical appoments to be equals on the battlefield. The
invention didn't make people any more or less prone to go to war or to inflict good awfull injuries on
one another.
i. internet
Unlike technologies such as the light bulb or the telephone, the internet has no single “inventor.”
Instead, it has evolved over time. The internet got its start in the United States more than 50 years ago
as a government weapon in the Cold War. January 1, 1983 is considered the official birthday of the
Internet. Prior to this, the various computer networks did not have a standard way to communicate with
each other. A new communications protocol was established called Transfer Control
Protocol/Internetwork Protocol (TCP/IP).
More specifically, they state that the Internet use can improve learners' academic performance,
promote research skills and critical thinking, encourage independent or collaborative learning, enhance
motivation, strengthen self-confidence and improve the teaching methods.
j. cell phones
Martin Cooper, the engineer from Motorola, developed the first hand-held phone that could connect
over Bell's AMPS. Motorola launched the DynaTAC in 1984. It weighed over a kilogram and was
affectionately known as The Brick, but it quickly became a must-have accessory for wealthy financiers
and entrepreneurs.
Cellular technology has had other wide-ranging effects on society. It has played a key role in the
information age, allowing people to telecommute and live and work where they want. Over 90% of
current users say it makes them more efficient workers. Cell phones also provide a sense of safety for
users.
