PsaA and PsaB are two major subunits of photosystem I that are closely associated membrane proteins involved in electron transfer through binding of cofactors like P700, Acc, A0, A1 and Fx. PsaA and PsaB each contain eleven transmembrane segments and coordinate an [4Fe-4S] iron-sulfur cluster called Fx using cysteine residues located between the ninth and tenth segments. Photosystem I includes lipids, protein subunits, coenzymes, pigments, and cofactors like the P700 reaction center, antenna complex, phylloquinone, ferredoxin, and three iron-sulfur protein reaction centers. PsaA and PsaB, are two major sub-units of closely associated proteins,

involving binding cofactors P700, Acc, A0, A1 and Fx, of critical electron
transfer. PsaA and PsaB are both 730 to 750 amino acids integral
membrane proteins containing eleven transmembranes. Four cysteines are
co-ordinated with [4Fe-4S] iron-sulphur cluster Fx; two cysteines are
supplied with PsaA and PsaB, each with two cysteines. Both cysteines are
proximal each and situated between the ninth and tenth segments of the
transmembrane.

PSI includes different components, for example; lipids, protein subunits,

coenzymes, pigments, and cofactors.

 P700 reaction centre: The P700 reaction centre is made of modified

chlorophyll, with higher wavelengths and a bleaching effect that
better absorbs light at 700 nm wavelength. P700 absorbs antenna
molecular energy and uses each photon energy to elevate an
electron to a higher degree of energy. These electrons are
transferred from P700 to electron accepters in pairs in the
oxidation/reduction phase. P700 has around −1.2 volts of electrical
potential.

 Complex antenna: The antenna complex consists of chlorophyll and

carotenoid molecules attached to two proteins.

 Photon: Inducing electron transfer is the photo-excitement of

pigment molecules in the antenna complex.

 Phylloquinone: The next early PSI acceptor in PSI is phylloquinone.

 Ferredoxin: Ferredoxin (Fd) is a soluble protein that

allows {\rm{NAD}}{{\rm{P}}^{\rm{ + }}}NADP+ to be
reduced to NADPH. Fd converts a single thylakoid or an enzyme that
lowers {\rm{NAD}}{{\rm{P}}^{\rm{ + }}}NADP+ to a single
electron.

 Iron-sulfur complex: PSI has three iron-sulfur protein reaction

centres.

Photosystem II component:
Photosystem II is a protein complex specialised in light energy oxidation
with water, resulting in molecular oxygen release in the atmosphere and
reduction of plastoquinone released into the photosynthetic hydrophobic
nucleus. In Photosystem II, all oxygenated photosynthetic cells, including
plants, algae and some bacteria, are responsible for the extraction of
electrons from water that is ultimately included in the mechanism of
reducing carbon dioxide. The complex consists of an electron
transportation core reaction centre and a peripheral antenna structure
containing chlorophyll and other pigment molecules absorbing radiation.
The Photosystem II, which consists of about 20 subunits, and additional
auxiliary light-harvesting proteins, is a component of cyanobacteria and
green plants.
