Requirement in Foundation Engineering

The document provides specifications for structural elements of a building and calculates loads at different levels. It specifies the size of beams, columns, and walls. It then calculates the dead and live loads on the roof, floors, and walls based on their self-weight and imposed loads. Finally, it sums the loads tributary to columns at each level - from the roof to the 3rd floor, 3rd to 2nd floor, 2nd floor to plinth, and plinth to footing - and checks that the calculated loads are below the safe bearing capacity of 200 kPa.

Size of beam = 300 x 500 mm

Size of column = 400 x 400 mm

Exterior and Interior Wall = 100 mm thick
Safe Bearing Capacity = 200 Kpa

Tributary Area = 5*3.5 = 17.5 m2

Length of beam under tributary area = 2.5 + 2.5 + 2 + 1.5 = 8.5 m
Length of wall under tributary area= 2.5 + 2.5 + 2 + 1.5 = 8.5 m

1) Load of roof slab

Self weight = 0.125*23.54 = 2.9425 KN/m 2
Water proofing = 0.80 KN/m2
Floor finish = 1.1 KN/m2
Ceiling = 0.17 KN/m2
MEP = 0.10 KN/m2

Total DL = 2.9425 + 0.8 + 1.1 + 0.17 + 0.10 = 5.1125 KN/m 2

LL= 1.1 KN/m2
Factored Load = (1.2*5.1125) + (1.6*1.1) = 7.895 KN/m 2

2) Load of floor slab

Self weight = (0.125*23.54) = 2.9425 KN/m 2
Floor finish = 1.1 KN/m2
Ceiling = 0.17 KN/m2
MEP = 0.10 KN/m2
Interior partition= 1.00 KN/m2

Total DL = 2.9425 + 1.1 + 0.17 + 0.10 +1.0 = 5.3125 KN/m 2

3rd floor
LL = 1.9 KN/m2
Factored Load = (1.2*5.3125) + (1.6*1.9) = 9.415 KN/m 2

2nd floor
LL = 4.8 KN/m2
Factored Load = (1.2*5.3125) + (1.6*4.8) = 14.055 KN/m 2

3) Load of walls
Height of walls = 3 – 0.5 = 2.5 m
Self weight of wall = 0.1*2.5*23.54 = 5.885 KN/m
Factored load = 1.4*5.885 = 8.239 KN/m

4) Load of beam
Self weight of beam = 0.5*0.3*23.54 = 3.531 KN/m
Factored load = 1.4*3.531= 4.9434 KN/m
Load on column
1) Roof to 3rd floor
Roof load = 7.895*5*3.5 = 138.1625 KN
Beam load = 4.9434* 8.5 = 42.0189 KN
Walls load = 8.239* 8.5 = 70.0315 KN

Total = 250.2129 KN

2) 3rd floor to 2nd floor

Floor load = 9.415*5*3.5 = 164.7625 KN
Beam load = 4.9434* 8.5 = 42.0189 KN
Walls load = 8.239* 8.5 = 70.0315 KN
Loads from top floor = 250.2129 KN

Total = 527.0258 KN

3) 2nd to plinth
Floor load = 14.055*5*3.5 = 245.9625 KN
Beam load = 4.9434* 8.5 = 42.0189 KN
Walls load = 8.239* 8.5 = 70.0315 KN
Loads from top floor = 527.0258 KN

Total = 885.0387 KN

4) Between plinth and footing

Beam load = 4.9434* 8.5 = 42.0189 KN
Column load = 0.4*0.4*23.54*(1.2 + 3 + 3 + 3.2 + 1.2) = 43.69024 KN
Load from above structure = 885.0387 KN

Total = 970.74784 KN
