(Norberg et.al 2011). Because of this, the school develops a self-directed approach
to all learners through creating modules. This module has pedagogical approach in
which students will be able to manage the complexity of projects, assignments,
quizzes, essays and seek feedback from their classmates, work on their own and
reflect on what they have learned. This is a challenging part for students and
teachers as well as the school. However the new instructional practices should be
reinforced for continuing education. In all of these technology is a tool to drive the
student learning.

In the forgoing approach of this module there are underlying sections here
that the learners’ should consider:

Let’s Find Out:

After doing the activity, in this module let’s find out what
entrepreneurial mind is all about, essential characteristics of
entrepreneurial mind, and other core concepts of
entrepreneurial mind. And other key concepts such as:

1. Entrepreneurial Mind Frame;

2. Entrepreneurial Heart Flame;
3. Entrepreneurial Gut Game; and
4. The Entrepreneurial Mind

Let’s Read:
Entrepreneurial mind frame allows the entrepreneur to
see things in a very positive and optimistic light in the midst
of crisis or difficult situations.

Entrepreneurial Mind Frame:

Passion is the great desire to attain a vision or fulfill a mission. It is about wanting
something so much that a person would be willing to totally devote oneself to the
quest.

Entrepreneurial Heart Flame:

The Entrepreneurial heart flame is also about emotional intelligence or EQ, which is
often manifested in the entrepreneurs’ efforts to nurture relationships with customers,
employees, and suppliers.
The entrepreneur also looks after the interests of his or her people by motivating and
encouraging them to be the best that they can be. This creates caring culture within
the organization that brings about synergy among the people working toward a
common vision.
Entrepreneurial Gut Game:
The Entrepreneurial gut game refers to the ability of the entrepreneur to sense
without using five senses. This is also known as intuition. The gut game also
connotes courage or, in the local dialect, “lakas ng loob” (strong intestinal fortitude)

New Product Development:

(1)the creative mind;
(2)the technical mind; and
(3)the business mind.
The creative mind conceptualizes and designs a product that consumers find some
use for. It likewise produces a product that is pleasing to see, touch, smell, hear, and
taste.
The technical mind is the technology originator. The entrepreneur may not
necessarily possess the technical mind but this is what drives him or her to convert
new knowledge into something highly functional and operational.
The business mind harnesses the potentials of new products by creating the market
space for them. It also organizes sufficient forces and resources to develop, launch,
and commercialize the new product in order to maximize its market value.

5 Essential Characteristics of The Entrepreneurial Mind

1. Creativity
The seed of entrepreneurship is the ability to see things differently. Whether it's with
new products or new processes, entrepreneurs are driven by the uncanny knack to
see holes in the marketplace and devise innovations to fill them.
2. Suspicion of predictors
Entrepreneurs tend not to labor under the assumption that data is the sole predictor
of an outcome. Especially in new markets and with new products where data is
largely interpretive or extrapolated, entrepreneurs are undaunted by the typical
predictors that may put off fainter hearts.
3. Comfort with uncertainty
Similarly, a distrust of prediction and analysis creates an atmosphere where
uncertainty rules. Indeed, uncertainty is the very essence of entrepreneurship.
4. Openness to experimentation
A comfort with experimentation goes beyond educated trial and error. The ability to
experiment with products, processes and outcomes, no matter where the results
may lead, is the key element of this quality
5. Functional humility
Egos can destroy the very best ideas. Entrepreneurs who are committed to solving a
business problem or reinventing a product or service display a functional humility.

Entrepreneurial Mind: Characteristics of an Entrepreneur

Yes, as humans we are all unique. Yet, there are definite qualities of an entrepreneur
– ways we tend to think and act. Although there is no entrepreneurial gene we are
either born with or not. I know for a fact that successful entrepreneurs think and act
in similar ways — no matter how different we are as individuals – they think like
entrepreneurs.

Some entrepreneurs want to change the world. Others simply want to make money
online and provide a better life for themselves and their families. Some of us want to
do both.

1. DECISIVENESS: To succeed as an entrepreneur, you must gain the ability to look

at a problem or situation, digest all available data (at that point in time), and make a
confident decision to move forward.

Your ability as a decision-maker will make or break your future successes. In fact, at
the opposite end, indecision is one of the greatest causes of business failure.

When you cannot decide what to do, you delay taking action. In other words, you do
nothing. Think about how many dreams (and businesses) failing to take action has
killed.

Like many other skills an entrepreneur needs, being decisive is a skill that can (and
should) be practiced and strengthened in your day to day life — starting with the
tiniest decisions.

2. CONFIDENCE: There are many skills you will need to learn to accomplish
everything you want in life. But how do you act confidently when you don’t know
what you are doing? You learn to act with confidence, the second characteristic of
the entrepreneurial mind-set and one of the most important qualities of an
entrepreneur.

It is essential that you get used to the uncomfortable feeling of knowing that you
don't know what you’re doing. Whether it's getting on stage to speak, launching your
product, or learning how to start a blog and publishing your ideas to the world, we
tend to see others doing it and incorrectly assume they've always been good at it.

3. ACCOUNTABILITY: The entrepreneurial mind-set comes from taking

responsibility for your actions and outcomes.

You need to internalize and accept that:

 Everything that happens at work – YOU are responsible for.

 Everything that happens to your business – YOU are responsible for.
 Whether you succeed or fail, it is YOUR responsibility.

From this moment forward, you must accept responsibility for everything in your life
and hold yourself accountable to it.

4. RESILIENCE: As an entrepreneur, you will need to learn to deal with making

mistakes and failing. They are inevitable and a part of your growth. If every misstep
plummets you into self-doubt, you have to change the way you look at being wrong.
This mind-set shift takes resilience and is foundational to the entrepreneurial mind-
set. Success rarely happens in a straight line. Taking wrong turns and making
mistakes is something that happens to everyone.

“The only people who don’t make mistakes are the ones who don’t do
anything.”

5. HUMILITY: Humility is freedom from pride or arrogance, and it ties all of the
characteristics of entrepreneurship.

From decisiveness to confidence, humility will keep you focused and centered.
From accountability to resilience, you will continue to move forward through failure,
mistakes, and upsets. This is accomplished with humility.

“If you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room.”

– Someone smarter than me.

To be clear, mastering your entrepreneurial mindset is not easy. Nobody said it was.
The most important thing is to start by following a proven formula. You need to go
into this journey knowing you can get past any obstacle that comes up — because
you can and will.

Let’s Remember:
Our mindset is the underlying mechanism that can expose opportunities and ignite
our ambition, engaging our faculties in ways that enable us to flourish and thrive.
Yet, our mindset can also blind us to opportunities and hinder our ability to learn and
grow, keeping us tethered to familiar, yet unproductive patterns of thought and

action.

A mindset is a cognitive belief system consisting of interrelated beliefs, assumptions,

and knowledge that we use to process information, inform our decisions, and guide
our behavior.

An entrepreneurial mindset is a specific set of beliefs, knowledge, and thought

processes that drives entrepreneurial behavior. Those with an entrepreneurial
mindset tend to:
1. believe in their ability to succeed and influence their own outcomes,
empowering them to take ownership of their lives;
2. have compelling goals that keep them future-focused and intrinsically
motivated, driving them to be self-directed, action-oriented, and highly engaged;

3. have an optimistic interpretation of adverse events and see problems as

potential opportunities, becoming highly resilient, resourceful, and solution-
oriented even within highly uncertain, resource constrained environments;

4. be lifelong knowledge seekers with a focus on micro-experiments as

learning opportunities to test ideas, cultivating curiosity, creativity, and critical
thinking;

5. display a high-level of reliability, understanding that following through on

simple solutions can lead to unforeseen opportunity;

6. have a humanistic outlook, being other-focused and understanding that

one creates value by looking to solve problems for others; and

7. surround themselves with an intentional community of positive influence

and critical guidance.

It is important to note that successful entrepreneurs are often touted as exceptional

individuals; a rare breed who seem to have been born with unique hereditary traits.

But, the entrepreneurial mindset is most often acquired implicitly without conscious
effort or awareness, which may explain why it often appears to be a dispositional
trait, even though it is not.

An entrepreneurial mindset can be developed and enhanced through entrepreneurial

experiences. And to cultivate the entrepreneurial mindset, we must create
entrepreneurial learning experiences within our classrooms, organizations, and

communities.

Let’s Do This:

Instructions: Write a minimum of 250 word reflective essay about your business
concept you plan to venture in the future. Indicate in your reflection other important
traits that you think an individual should have in order to conceptualize one’s desire
to venture a business and the reasons of choosing a particular type of business. You
can make your own title for your reflection essay. You will be provided a rubric by
your instructor on how you are graded for this activity.
