ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Paper-4 (PCC-EE-304): Electromagnetic Fields
Total Marks – 70 Duration: 3 Hrs

The figures in the margin indicate full marks

Candidates are requested to give their answers in their own words as far as practicable

Answer Question no. 1 and any four from the rest

Q1. Answer any seven questions. [7 x 2]

(i) What is the Poynting vector in electromagnetic field?
(j) Write down the characteristic of an isotropic medium?

Q2.
(a) Derive an expression for the electric field at a point P due to a straight and infinite
uniformly charged wire of length ‘L’ m and with a charge density of ρL C/m. The point
P lies along the perpendicular bisector of wire.
(b) The potential at a point A is 10 V and at B it is 15 V. If a charge, Q = 10 µC is moved
from A to B, what is the work done?
(c) A charge density of ρL =10 pC/m is uniformly distributed along an infinite line.
Determine the electric field at a point (2, 2, 1).
