1. INTRODUCTION OF THIS PRODUCT RELEASE

This document identifies the release number P4.4A of software for FMX product.
It provides information on the hardware compatibility and limitations of this release.

2. NEW FEATURES OF THIS PRODUCT RELEASE

The new feature of the P4.4A release is the introduction of an IP / Ethernet management
interface in place of the X25 management interface. This allows the FMX management through an IP
Local Area Network (LAN).
La nouvelle fonctionnalité du palier P4.4A est le remplacement de l’interface de gestion X25 par
une interface IP / Ethernet. Ceci permet la gestion du FMX à travers un réseau local (LAN) IP.

4. HARDWARE COMPATIBILITY OF THIS PRODUCT RELEASE

To use this software release, the following limiting factors must be taken into account in the
product hardware configuration :

7.1. NEW LIMITATIONS IN THIS RELEASE
7.1.1. Frame relay with P4.4a release Relais de trame au palier P4.4a
Creation of frame relay
The P4.4a LCT allows the creation only of 7 ends with a 8 Kbit/s bitrate.

Le TPI P4.4a ne permet la création que de 7 extrémités avec un débit de 8 Kbit/s.

Recovery of an existing configuration

This recovery can be done in 2 manners:
♦ Direct replacement of the GIE-P card by a GIE-S card. This replacement is carried out in a powered shelf, and the configuration saved in the COB card is recovered by
GIE-S.
♦ Remote loading starting from the LCT of the old configuration created and saved in P43.b/c release in the new GIE-S.

This configuration created under P4.3b/c release will be always functional under P4.4a release, even if it comprises 8 ends of
frame relay with a 8 Kbit/s bitrate.

Récupération d’une configuration existante

Cette récupération peut se faire de 2 manières :
♦ Remplacement direct de la GIE-P par une GIE-S. Ce remplacement s’effectue dans un châssis sous tension, et la configuration sauvegardée dans la (ou les) COB est
récupérée par GIE-S.
♦ Téléchargement à partir du TPI de l’ancienne configuration créée et sauvegardée en P43.b/c dans la nouvelle GIE-S.

Cette configuration créée sous P4.3b/c sera toujours fonctionnelle sous P4.4a, même dans le cas où elle comporte 8 extrémités de relais
de trame à 8 Kbit/s.

Modification of a configuration created under P4.3b/c release

The difficulty comes owing to the fact that the resources necessary for the second end to a rate of 64 Kbit/s can be already assigned to an end with a 8 Kbit/s bitrate. It is
obligatory if the configuration comprises 8 ends with a 8 Kbit/s bitrate, but that can occur even if is not the case (that depends on the history of the configuration).

If it is impossible to create one second end with a rate of 64 Kbit/s, it is then necessary to remove the end with a 8 Kbit/s bitrate which uses the resources envisaged. To
identify and remove this end, proceeds as follow :

♦ Open the window “Frame relay connections”,

Then “List relayed EOC”

♦ Select in the list the last end with a 8 Kbit/s bitrate. All frame relay connections using this end are listed in the window.

♦ Delete these frame relay connections.

Then the second end with a rate of 64 Kbit/s can be created.

Then reorganize if necessary, the frame relay connections with a 8 Kbit/s bitrate.

Modification d’une configuration créée sous P4.3b/c

La difficulté provient du fait que les ressources nécessaires pour la seconde extrémité à 64 Kbit/s peuvent être déjà affectées à une extrémité à 8 Kbit/s. C’est obligatoire si
la configuration comporte 8 extrémités à 8 Kbit/s, mais cela peut se produire même si ce n’est pas les cas (cela dépend de l’historique de la configuration).

Si on se trouve dans le cas où il est impossible de créer une seconde extrémité à 64 Kbit/s, il faut alors supprimer l’extrémité à 8 Kbit/s qui utilise les ressources prévues.
Pour l’identifier :

♦ Ouvrir la fenêtre « Connexions relais de trame »,

Puis « Liste des extrémités déjà relayées »

♦ Sélectionner dans la liste la dernière extrémité à 8 Kbit/s. Toutes les connexions relais de trame passant par cette extrémité sont listées dans la sous-fenêtre.

♦ Supprimer ces connexions.

On peut ensuite créer la seconde extrémité à 64 Kbit/s.

Réorganiser ensuite, si nécessaire, les connexions de relais de trame à 8 Kbit/s.

In this case, there is two possibilities :

- All the GIE-S cards are in release AL12290B05 and all the GIE-P cards are in release AL12292xxx, (GIEP in release
AL12291xxx are not allowed),
- All the GIE-S cards are in release AL12290B02 and all the GIE-P cards are in release AL12292A03 or older.
