Copy and Answer

1. A certain cable transmission system is shown. The nominal signal level at the
source output is -3dBm. The signal is amplified before transmission by a line
amplifier whose gain is 18 dB, the first section of cable (section A) has a loss
of 22dB a booster amplifier with a gain of 26 dB is place at the output of that
section. The second section (section B) has a loss of 25 dB the system is
operated on a matched impedance basis with all effective source and
termination having a resistance of 600 ohms, and the characteristic impedance
of the cable is the same.

antenna height is 120 ft. The transmission line is 150 ft. and consist of RG-11
U coaxial cable (attenuation factor of 5 dB/100ft) and is fed to a unity dB gain
antenna. When the police mobile car is at location Y the total path loss is 150
dB, when the police mobile car moves to location Z the total path loss increases
to 200 dB the police mobile car is furnished with a two-way transceiver with a
3 dB gain antenna. Assuming that the coaxial cable is negligible in the police
mobile car determine the following:
a. The received signal level in dBw, in the receiver of the police mobile car
when this is located at Y while the base station is transmitting.

b. RSL in dBw when the police mobile car is at location Z.

c. Assuming that the RSL being receive is unsatisfactory and below the
required minimum input to the receiver in the police mobile car when it is
at location Z recommend at least two practical means of increasing the
signal level without increasing the base station transmitter power of
50Watts.

5. Given the ff. equipment site and operating specifications:

Cable Attenuation: 3 dB/100ft Minimum Received Signal: 116 dB below
Transmitter output

Antenna type and gain: Parabolic dish and 18 dB over a half wave dipole

Antenna Height: A B C
100 ft 100 ft 100 ft

Transmission Line: 150 ft 200 ft 125 ft

Path AB FSL : 142 dB Path AC FSL : 124 dB

Determine which path is acceptable justify your answer by computation

6. What is the EIRP in dBw of a 50dB antenna connected to a transmitter with an
