    Please allow this letter to serve as a recommendation for Mary Nemec. Mary has a formally
    assigned position as an Orchard Park remote second grade teacher for the 20-21 school year. I
    know Mary as a colleague, professional mentee, and partner in the world of remote learning. I
    highly recommend Mary Nemec as a candidate for a teaching position. She is driven,
    organized, and has caring relationships with people. Mary takes great initiative in her passion
    for teaching and with a positive attitude. She is responsible and hard-working.
    Mary recognizes that family-teacher relationships are essential for student learning. She
    uses weekly newsletters to document student learning with families. Mary promotes emotional
    health through class meetings and provides an opportunity for students to learn valuable social
    and life skills. Students learn about community members as pen pals with other virtual classes
    and share interests about backgrounds while practicing reading and writing skills.
    Mary embraces a constructivist approach as she implements the workshop model across all
    content areas. This can be very challenging in a remote setting, however she uses quality
    researched interventions and professional judgment to improve teaching practice and student
    learning in the classroom. Mary fosters a deep understanding in a math workshop environment.
    She aims to prepare students for any reading and writing task they will face and nurtures
    life-long, confident readers and writers who display agency and independence in her classroom.
    Mary challenges secure learners while simultaneously scaffolding curriculum for learning that is
    supported for all. Students see how they’ll use science, math, and reading in their future work
    life.
    Quite simply put, Mary is among the best and brightest new teachers I’ve worked with in the
    past twenty years. As a math coach, mentor, and elementary education teacher, I recognize
    Mary as a talented professional who is deeply passionate about education. Her young students
    are developing enthusiasm for learning. Mary has a wonderful rapport with people of all ages,
    especially children. Her ability to connect with her students is truly superior. Mary is hands-on in
    recognizing when children need special attention, grabs the opportunity with both hands, and
    ends up making a difference. She is charismatic and creative.
