Dreamers Evaluation
Character: With examples from the book, provide the following- (5 points)
Who is the main character?
How can the reader relate to the character?
Who are the supporting characters?
The main character of the story is Yuyi and her son who is one of the supporting
characters. The reader knows this because the character is never really introduced
but the entire story is in first person. Also, at the end of the book the author provides
a more in-depth story of how her and her son migrated to the United States. Readers
can relate to the character by remembering times they were confused of their
surroundings or were not able to understand the language around them. Especially
those children who are also dreamers can relate quite a bit to the main character.

Why?
I really liked the illustrations in the book, and I thought the story line was good. The
only reason I didn’t give it a 5/5 was because I felt that the book could have added
more Mexican culture to it, and it could have possibly explained the struggles a little
more. It was a little vague but overall I really liked it.
