Installation
To install, insert the kit CD into your PC's CD/DVD-ROM drive. Install the CY4611B EZ-USB
Development Kit by running cyautorun.exe located in the root directory on the CD. Follow the
installation instructions on screen.
The CY4611B Mass Storage Reference Design Kit is an add-on to the Cypress CY3684 EZ-USB
FX2LP Development Kit. Therefore, the CY3684 Development Kit must be installed on the
system to get more familiar with the FX2LP IC on CY4611B board. To compile the Mass Storage
firmware, you must install the full version of the Keil 8051 tools (available from Keil Software at
www.keil.com).

Limitations and Known Issues
1. ATA devices using PIO 3 modes are not supported (WIRED0034)
Issue: ATA drives using the old PIO3 mode do not work
Implications: The EZ-USB FX2 firmware does not work with PIO mode 3 hard drives.
PIO-3 hard drives were last made around 1996.
Workaround: Use new ATA drives.
Status: No fix planned

2. Some devices cause USB power violations in bus-powered mode

Issue: Many 2.5” HDD and some CF+ devices draw more than 500 mA from the 5 V
power supply. Since the FX2LP draws over 80 mA in high speed, some CF+ devices
cause the VBUS current to exceed 500 mA.
Implications: Devices working properly can cause USB issues.
Workaround: Limit the devices that your customers use in bus-powered devices. Only
allow CF+ devices in self-power mode.
Status: No fix planned

3. Long DVD-R burns may fail with GSA-4080N (1432)

Issue: Long (2.5G+) DVD burns may fail with the GSA-4080N DVD burner. Setting the
“busy bit delay” bit makes the problem appear less frequently
Implications: Firmware modifications will be needed to support this device.
Workaround: None
Status: No fix planned

4. HL-Data Storage GCC4242N Slimline DVD fails HCT 12.1 - MMC (1674)
Issue: The GCC4242N DVD drive fails the “media removal” test in HCT 12.1.
Implications: Devices built with this drive may fail the HCT test.
Workaround: None
Status: No fix planned

Flash Code Protection

Cypress products meet the specifications contained in their particular Cypress PSoC Data Sheets. Cypress believes that
its family of PSoC products is one of the most secure families of its kind on the market today, regardless of how they are
used. There may be methods, unknown to Cypress that can breach the code protection features. Any of these methods,
to our knowledge, would be dishonest and possibly illegal. Neither Cypress nor any other semiconductor manufacturer
can guarantee the security of their code. Code protection does not mean that we are guaranteeing the product as
"unbreakable."
Cypress is willing to work with the customer who is concerned about the integrity of their code. Code protection is
constantly evolving. We at Cypress are committed to continuously improving the code protection features of our products.
