FCE Report

The report considers the advantages and disadvantages of accepting 50 overseas students to the college for two weeks. It finds that while there may be some practical difficulties like fewer library seats and cafeteria crowding, overall the visit would be a stimulating opportunity for cultural and knowledge exchange. The majority of staff interviewed believed the foreign students would find exploring the local culture in and out of class an exciting experience.

Report on Proposed Visit by 50 Overseas Students
Introduction

The purpose of this report is to consider the advantages and disadvantages of

accepting a large group of overseas students for two weeks. I conducted the
research by asking all members of college staff aged 20 and above and included
both males and females. I asked them both benefits and drawbacks of having 50
foreign students at our campus.

Advantages

All those I interviewed believe that for students this would be an exciting
opportunity to explore a foreign culture both in the classroom and socially.
Overall, they thought the visit would be stimulating for the college at a quiet
time of the year.

Disadvantages

About thirty percent of the staff are concerned that:

1) there would be insufficient seats in the library
2) the visitors would be more interested in enjoying themselves than
studying.
3) there would be long queues in the cafeteria at lunchtime.

Conclusion and recommendation

From the research, I conclude that the group might cause some practical
difficulties but on the whole everyone thought that the visit should be seen as an
opportunity for cultural and knowledge exchange.
